Obsessive-compulsive. But yeah, I have that disorder too.

I normally just make them up as I go along.

Lately in the 37 degree ride to work it's been:

"freezin my *** off freezin my *** off...
to get me to work to get me to work...
freezin my *** off freezin my *** off...
the whole ride to work the whole ride to work"

peace and quiet my ***. I usually ride with my ears open so I don't get killed.

I'll take the Ipod occasionally. Like old Beach Boys 'cause surfin' and ridin' are pretty close. ZZ Top is good motor music. Any good rock will do. I like this Junior Brown tune as well.

Anything from old southern rock, to speed metal, to country, to rap. Just depends on what kind of mood I'm in.

George Thorgood's Gear Jammer gets me into trouble almost everytime.

This is just further conformation that you have excellent taste in music.

My favorite local rip route is up Big Tujunga Canyon and Angeles Forest Highway down into the Antelope Valley. That's the responsibility of CHP. I wave at them when I go by, so Junior's "Highway Patrol" is in my head. His guitar solo here is as good as it gets.

Here's more Junior. If it doesn't make you want to ride, you should trade in your bike for a Buick.

Funny you should mention Thorogood. Back in olden times, I was 19 years old and living in S.E. Pa. Rode with my best friend on his 60cc Benelli to see the George and the Delaware Destroyers at a club in Wilmington.

That was the night I decided I needed a motorcycle. I've had at least one ever since.

Me and the guys at work play a game.. where we try to get the most annoying song we can stuck in each others head..

I win so far.. I just hum a few bars of ABBA'a "Dancin Queen"...

"you are they dancing queen... "..

And :
yes
yes
yes

But here's the secret to getting it back out... FINISH the song. Sing the last few lines, and let it play out... then change the station quickly.... (lol... yes, I remember we are talking about songs in your head...)

And yes, I sing, I talk to my self, but don't listen to music. I actually find it really distracting, not like talking to myself.

Done that many times during a ride... classic rock mostly but some country and instrumentals. Can't ride with 3" of snow on the ground, so I get to channel surf XM in my truck.

Talking I'm almost afraid to say but

Years ago when I was racing I had a tune I played in my head especially at shorter tracks like Summitt Point, Leo Kotke's Vaseline Machine Gun, I can't figure out how to link it but you can find it on YouTube!

1-15 miles: 'The Raven', or perhaps 'Dr. Tar and Mr. Fether' Alan Parsons Project (Tales of Mystery and Imagination)
16-25 miles: 'Careful with that Ax, Eugene' Pink Floyd (Umma Gumma)
26-60 miles: 'Baroque Music for Trumpet' Wynton Marsalis (Includes work by Telleman, Vivaldi and Bach.)

IMHO radio programming sucks big time, or am I alone on this?
