Lots of mods done this week!

Hello all, I bought an 03 SH about 6 months ago and felll in love with the bike! I found this forum shortly after and its been a total blessing! About a month ago I was invited on a trip to Boston and Nantucket island from Cleveland. I couldnt turn it down! Needless to say for the 1400+ mile round trip ride some mods needed to be done to make my hawk more comfortable. Since im 6'7" this kinda needed to be done anyway. The trip just gave me an excuse to speed up the process!

I wanted to go over what I did, why, and show pics if possible as I know it will help some people.

First thing I did was the Sargent seat upgrade. got it on ebay for 370 shipped and what a difference this made its more level, wider and softer! Totally different feel, as the stocker is horrible and my nuts were always ending up on gas tank!

Second thing I did was the apex 4" riser fully adjustable handlebars. These are awesome. totally adjustable grip angle, height, width, and forward/back placement. I was led to these by a member after inquiring about a superbike bar conversion. Again thank god for this forum and the expertsz on it! the kit was 270 shipped but what an amazing product. Obviously the old bars were not going to provide with any comfort for more than about an hour!!

Third mod was the buell footpeg conversion. These are a direct bolt on peg that drops one inch lower than the factory hawk pegs. What a difference one inch makes! Its unreal it really relaxes your riding position. with that the seat and the bars now Im feeling ready for thew road!!

As we all know our stock rectifiers and CCT's are known for failing! So, as opposed to worrying about this the whole ride I upgraded both. A member, superdutyd makes some awesome ones for 70 shipped. they are identical to apes but also have locking set screws which is even better. Im good mechanically but was a little worried about this job due to the dangers of blowing up my motor if the timing was messed up in process. But thanks to a sticky post in knowledge base section on ccts replacement, if your mechanically sound and have the necessary simple tools it should be no prob at all. Check out the write up its awesome!

Next was the Sport touring windscreen by zero gravity 98 bucks shipped. It is about 6 inches longer and is higher than stock. Helps a ton, put wind on shoulders as opposed to chest.

Next I put the integrated led tail light and removed my rear turn signals. what a great cosmetic and mechanical upgrade. Looks great, uses less power and gets rid of those ugly turn signals. easy as pie to wire up!

When installing the apex bars to achieve the rise I wanted i needed to swap out brake lines as the stock were not long enough. I went with stainless steel braided from galfer. I ordered them through pashnit.com and they were great. I bought the front and clutch cables there and they gave me the line for the rear for free! saved me 60! 120 for the others. The difference in your levers after installing these is amazing. Highly recomended!

O I also added a vista cruise throttle lock, about 40 shipped nice simple piece of equipment that works well! Sometimes you need to stretch your throttle hand, ya know!

This bike is so comfortable to ride now its not funny. the ccts and r/r are swapped so no mechanical issues to worry about. did a few things to sleeken up the appearance and now Im very satisfied with just putting miles on it from here on out. Id love to help anyone with any questions to any of these mods ive done as i couldnt have done it without you guys!!

now let me get some pics up here!!!!!

Nice job! Love the black '99 w/ red logos. If only I could be so productive in the garage...

Nice work! cct's and r/r are definitely good swaps. Did my cct's a few years ago. But the Hawk is sitting in the garage waiting on A new r/r as the original left me stranded lol. good job though. Looks good
