Liberty Mutual won't insure an RC51?
I called to put my Hawk on the policy and she asked to clarify that this was "not" an RVT as they won't insure those. She couldn't give me an explanation. Never heard of that before. And why that bike? Why not a ZX14? Or a Busa?

??? You know u-haul will rent a trailer to anything but a ford explorer (?!!!) And my last health insurance plan would cover me in an accident flying, hang gliding, mountain climbing, mountain biking, flying the ******* space shuttle....just don't ride a motorcycle-that's not covered.

Insurance of any kind is just the weirdest business concept I have never been able to wrap my brain around why one would have it unless forced. They only insure you for and cover accidents that you could shoulder financially or never happen to you in the first place. The proper approach to loss is to minimize the likelihood - don't put yourself in a position to get creamed!
I think the entire industry should be a "choice" type deal. If you lay awake thinking that you're really dumb enough to be charged with someone's accidental death with your car then go buy some. If you're a good driver and spent plenty of time at the park in the bumper-car tent then you should have no problem in life avoiding an accident of this type.
The number of drivers in the Southern states (especially) that are driving without insurance are appalling. Marm's last downer was a bunch of spicks in a pickup who drove away. I'm sure it was because of the insurance thing first and immigration issues next. My Bro-IL lost his last BMW to the same ****. These ******** hit him hard enough to nearly knock him out and plowed him into the car in front of him. By the time he came to his senses they backed up and drove away.
Insurance works for the politicians that "want to protect people" and companies that want to create a false sense of security and make billions of dollars (monthly) doing it.

Why do you have Liberty Mutual? I once worked for them and with my employee discount, they were still way too expensive. If you have Home and Auto with them, pull it all and go to another company. Have you tried Farmers if they're available locally? They treated me well previously.

I've always insured my bikes with McGraw's. I have liability only on my '03 VTR and my premium is 80 bucks per year.
When I had a bike stolen in the '80s I told McGraw's market conditions made the bike worth a bunch more than blue book. They said they'd check it out.
A week later they sent me a check for 30% over blue book and found a dealer with the same bike, with more accesories and lower miles than my stolen one had, who sold my the replacement for the amount of the check.
Still got that bike. Still got McGraw's.

I just ran into the same problem when I went to add my '07 Aprilia Tuono to my list of insured bikes with GMAC. They wouldn't insure the Tuono but connected me to one of their underwriters- who wanted $364.00 for minimum liability only-which is what I'm paying in total for my other 6 liability only bikes. Did some calling and finally went with Geico for $75.00 annually for 100-300k liability coverage. The kicker is that Geico will insure all 7 bikes for 100-300k liability for $332.00 annually.

That's INCREDIBLE!
So how many of you have watched "The Incredibles" and seen your insurance company? It'd be hilarious if it weren't required that we pay so much to these companies so they can give bigger purses at the "Insuricare Open". Tiger will win. Again.

I pay approx $120 per year for full coverage on both an '01 'hawk and a '67 Cougar ($40/80 split respectively) through State Farm. Always been treated well, never had an issue and I have yet to see any company come even close to those rates.

man thats insane I live in a communist state. Ma insurance is way overpriced, plus we dont have gieco, state farm, progessive ect. The rates for the companies that are in this state are stupid. my 98 eclipse for full coverage is a little over $1500 a year. Im 32 with an excellent driving record. my bike is not far behind.
They are talking of insurance reform but thats been the word for years now.
