Jim Ahlman speedo corrector

Jim Ahlman speedo corrector
Does anyone have any experience with this unit? I just picked one up from a chap on the Speedzilla site. It had been previously mounted on a RC51. Although I wasn't sure at first if it would work on the VTR, I checked the Speedohealer Website prior to picking it up and noted that the same "Plug n go" unit was recommended for the VTR and RC, meaning that it should have the same plus-ins (therefore should , just plug in, lol) As I am running 15/43 gearing, I want to be able to calibrate my speedo to make it accurate.

I had the same one on my '02 RC51. It truly is PnP. The hard part is getting it calibrated. Know any cop friends? hehehe
Another advantage is that if you get a ticket you can set the thing to max negative and have the bike speedo calibrated....not that I would ever have done such a thing.

thanks Greg
For calibration, I will use the Excel spreadsheet (I posted the link in the KB section some time ago) to calculate the baseline and wil then fine-tune with a GPS when I have access to one.

Not sure if they are still available. I picked mine up (used) for $75 shipped. I believe there was another guy looking at getting rid of his too. Do a search on the Speedzilla site and you will surely find it. You can also get a Speedohealer or a Yellow Box (?)
Good luck

You will still have to first figure out the stock speedo error, which generally runs about 5-10% optimistic.

I can figure all of that out from the spreadsheet. At 4000 rpm, my speedo is indicating 120 km/h. I will compare it to the true speed (based on the gearing, tire circumference,...) as calculated in the spreadsheet, cand work out the speedo error from there. Quite simple really

Update: the dude who was supposed to sell me the unit shipped it off to someone else...how nice don't you think? Payment had been sent and all...my first time getting screwed on a transaction. Law of averages at work, bound to hit a ******** at some point......
