Impression on SHawk from non-SHawk rider

Gave my SHawk for quick try-ride to my friend. He rides a mint (despite age - I found that bike for him, owner bought it an did not really rode it) FZR1000 EXUP of 1995 (best model of FZR - with crazy 6-pot calipers, Ohlins shock and USD forks size of my leg), he rode some lightr 600s before.
He came back completely suprised - here is what he said (you will love it):
" Wow, it feels like cross bike - so narrow, ubeleivable!"
" Throttle response so instant and immediately pulls so much torque - I am not sure I can ride bike like that, it is to "instant"
" It responds to steering so easy, like you previous Hornet - I think it should be incredibly cool to ride it in city" Comment: good he does not know about SHawk "clunk die" etc. , but to be fair I do have serious upgrade of suspension (springs, oil, Wilbers shock etc.)
" It feels so light and so much torque from such low RPMs - how the hell you handling it???"
" It probably will make really good streetfighter bike!"

He is not novice, but not track day monster either, he is good intermidiate rider who came with me through all rides in Alps and managed very well. So, SHawk rules, isn't that great?

BTW - when he tried R1 and ZX10 he came back saying that those bikes made for dwarfs (he plays rugby, so he is fairly big guy) - and it was true, when he sat on R1 his face was slightly in front of windscreen

Here is real life for you...

Bluesman,
That is a neat story.
Thnaks for sharing it.
The past weekend I had a chance to take a short ride on a 2004 GSXR 1000. I did not ring it out very hard but could tell it was a strong bike.
A few spirited runs thru 3rd gear was about all I could manage.
I believe my SH would give it a good run thru the lower gears and up until the point where the HP of the GSXR really came into play (top speed).
Like you, my SH is not stock but my mods are not extreme.

I continue to view a decently setup and moderately modified SH a real sleeper motorcycle.

Thanks again,
Brian

Good story... I have a buddy that rides a SV650 and I let him ride my hawk. His acessment of the SH was similar to what your friend said.
My friend said that the power was right there all the time and he was surprised how the bike just goes when you let the clutch out, no gas is really needed to get it going. He was also impressed with the handling of a bike that weighs over 50lbs more than his.

Hawks will always kick ***.
