I'm stupid (brake pad replacement problem)

I went to replace my brake pads, and like a dumbass I removed both of the bolts that hold the brake calipers on instead of removing the one your are supposed to and twisting the caliper up. Now I can't get the other one back on and I might have even cross threaded it. Any tips/suggestions?

The caliper doesn't go fully against the forks. Try jiggling it a bit to get the allen screw to line up. I always remove both bolts when changing pads.

At this point, assuming I read your post correctly, I'd remove the pads from the caliper (remove the slotted screw cap, remove the locating pin with an allen wrench, take off the spring-ee thing and pull the pads straight up and out of the caliper). This will give you more room to work and allow you to try to get the caliper bolted up to the fork leg. I think the biggest problem you have now is a possible stripped retaing bolt. A tap may need to be used to reestablish the threads. I would seek profesional help [not a comment on your mental state ]. Not to be mean but if you messed this up, I don't think you should be using a tap yourself. You'll need help from someone with a bit more experience.

I've PM'd you my phone number if you need someone to walk you through any of the process.

I finally got it back on. I'm not so crappy at mechanicing that I can't use a bolt, but it was 90 degrees and I was getting pissed off and sweating so I got a little bit hastey. I ended up cross threading it, but was able to force it back into place straight. Thanks for the tips though!
