sounds like a looped whoolie to me
Did you actually read the initial post, or did you skim through it and decide to pass judgement? No where does it say items on the back of the bike are destroyed, rather, it states those items (which did get your attention, apparantly) are NEW, making them worth something to someone willing to go bail the bike out.

Those who pass judgement and say this could never happen to them possess the very mentality that makes squids dangerous.

omp - good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Wow.

Yes, I did read the entire post, and I also understood it. Did you? "She is fixable, with new cans, rear sub frame, seat and cowl. THe frame sliders worked again saving the fairing and everything inbetween."

To fix the bike you would NEED new cans, rear sub frame seat and cowl. ???? Duh..The rest of the bike "except the windshield" was fine. (and even if that stuff WAS all new - why would it be? you upgrade your subframe lately?)

And I wrote this post not to be a dick, but in response to the previous post - which was edited a day later- which originally said something about this guy being untrustworthy.

I have personally seen the damage a looped wheelie does, and also responded to several head first collisions (I'm a firefighter/EMT) and I know what damage both accidents cause to a bike. The damage described does not sound (to me) to be consistent with the description of the accident.

I personally dont care. Either way, it sucks, and I too wish him good luck in recovery - maybe I should have said that in my original post..

Sorry, didn't mean to jump on you, I see your point, I read it wrong. Maybe the bike went over nose first when it hit, thrashing those items.

My comment about those who think it wouldn't happen to them wasn't directed at you, JJ. I get tired of folks who are so good that it'd never happen to them.

Let's all be careful out there.

I knew there was a recent post on this, took a minute to find it; heres what it looks like

The damage depends a lot on the speed at which the bike is looping at, but at higher speeds (above parking lot speeds), the bike comes over backwards, and impacts the cans and/or subframe assembly with significant violence, destroying the can(s) and bending/breaking the subframe assembly. Then, the bike skates along for a second or two before crashing down to one side or the other.

Looped Wheelie

Thanks, JJ, I understand now. I bought my Hawk from an active FF/EMT and I gotta think that he saw so many stupid injuries and deaths that that's one reason he got off his SH and into a hi-perf Mustang. He has two young girls and a son on the way. Let's all stay safe out there! Hope you're feeling better OMP!!!!!
