Howdy from HondaJim
Hi guys. 50 year old long time Honda owner. I posted a few times on RLZ. I see some names I recognize from then.
Currently own:
1988 600 Hurricane
1996 F3
2001 Superhawk
2002 919
Two weeks ago I let a 2004 CRF150 go. Fun little bike that I'll miss.
I live in the twisties of Kentucky, but I've been in 38 states on a motorcycle. Getting ready to leave on my annual one week trip with a bud from Atlanta on August 9th. We've been doing a trip for close to 20 years now. Last year was a trip out west to Colorado.
Used to do trackdays. Sold the leathers a few years ago and swore off knee draggin', but I still like running the backroads better than anything on a bike.
I've toured on the Hawk, had it on track, and still like it for a backroad weapon. I've been riding bikes since I was 6 years old.
I've always done all my own maintenance work. Just completed a front end overhaul on the Hawk a couple of weeks ago. I've got a question about that, but I'll save it for another thread.
Here's some pics of the rides. If you have any questions let me know, and I'll ask some of my own of you guys.

It's my sport tourer with about 26,000 miles on. Throw on some luggage and I can ride all day. Strip it down and it makes a nice twisty machine, but I can haul the backroads a little better with the Hawk. The 9er has better brakes, suspension is not as good (it's a 2002. Later years got adjustable front forks), no link in the rear suspension, just a progressive rear shock, and the steel backbone frame tends to pogo if pushed real hard. With some mods it can become a pretty decent hunter. I know a lot of guys who have Renthal ultra lows, Sato exhaust, upgraded front forks. More of a sport naked with those changes.
Motor is the retuned 929 for more midrange. Decent power.
I've put quite a few miles on it. Fixed a few items that popped up, so I'll ride it the rest of this year. I have plans for some changes this winter.

Anyways, I had an 87 'cane in white/red and would have waited for the 88 paint scheme had I known it was coming out as that color combination is one of my most favorites. Honda must like it too as they brought it back on my current ride (shameless plug):
Welcome to the site!

Nice Hurricane. A friend of mine bought one the first year, red. We raced once, I was even through 1st until I hit the rev limiter on my '86 CB700SC Nighthawk (I was watching him out of the corner of my eye instead of my tach). I think they had equal hp at 80, but the Nighthawk was heavier and so was my friend.
At that time I couldn't believe how light the Hurricane handled.
