Fastest I hit so far was an indicated 160 going uphill, and the hawk was still pulling hard. My exit was coming really fast so I had to let out. Stock gearing.

not the fastest, but heres a funny story i got pulled over last night. really dark and there was a unmarked police car that decide to ride right in my blind spot for about a mile or so, well i had enough of not being about to see him so i decide to gear down and just take off. well next thing i know is theres blues light behind me. so i pull over. he says did you not see the cop car right beside you. i said well you were in my blind spot plus its dark so, no... then have you got a motorcycle license, uh yeah. well how fast were you going uh, i really dont know exactly. he says well i was at 98 and you were still pulling away really fast. and well that kinda put a smile on my face... lol but needless to say he never asked to see my dl and just tells me to slow down and go on... thats like the 3rd warning ive had on that bike

I go approx the speed limit for my area (with police around) after that...im not looking at the speedo im looking at the dead bugs on the face shield, and the pot holes and what ever else is in the field of vision....but its gotta be pretty quick almost 40-50mph...

Ive gotten mine up to an indicated 165. So about 160ish cause my speedo is off by 5 mph been tagged by radar to lnow that one. It was down 599 in tukwila in a full tuck tailing a GSXR 600. And that was around 9800 R's and im running 16/43 gearing.

you do realize speedometers are off by a factor or, in other words, a percentage and the faster you go the further off your speedo will be right?

Well I've gotten mine to bounce off the rev-limiter in 6th (10.3 k rpms) with 16\43 gearing which is somewhere in the 155-160 range

I think some of you guys are optimistic with your numbers... I have -1 up front and I indicate 93 to get an actual 80mph, per my GPS. That works out to about about a 14% loss. so Ive broke 140 indicated, then I start running out of space and figure I've done an honest 120... actually hit that most days coming home from work at about 4am. I think my tach is up around the 7k mark and will still pull. I only have about a ten mile strech that I do this, but CHP hangs out at the on ramps around here and I hit another every couple miles. My driving record requires that I slow down and clear on ramps before continuing to top speed.

Actually loserbaby, it's just maths... If you know your grearing and rpm, you can calculate your real speed, less slip&tire growth errors... What your speedo is showing is mostly irrelevant...

Girlfriend: How fast do you think you were going!? (in an angry voice over the intercom from her 650R)
Me: I don't know... 80?
Girlfriend: NO... I had trouble keeping up... so you were well over 100. Stop that.
Me: Oh... sorry? I'll look at the speedo next time......

But really I'm with bundleofgrundle on this one (same general area too). My instincts normally kick in before I get to any significant speed (or a car gets in the way). Plus, most of the roads I ride on have speed limits around 30-40.

My '98 VTR will do an indicated buck sixty. It has Yoshimura stage 1 cams and a Yoshimura full system exhaust.

Another bird I own will do a bit over 2 bucks...

Really, how is it geared??

With stock gearing the bike will not pull to 10.3k rpm in 6th which limits the true top speed to between 150-155 mph (with a full on built motor, which is much more than a set of cams and a exhaust you might see a little over 160 but not by a whole lot). With 16\43 you can get to the rev limiter which give you a true top speed of between 157mph (by my calculation) or 159 per the dyno. With 15\43 you would be lucky to see a true 150mph

Also the speedo is more than optimistic at those speeds.

Any claims of a faster top speed is one of those, I'll believe it when I see it situations...... but over 200.....yeah right

nnjhawk02 is an unknown quantity at this point
Same here 145 on I-84 in Pa about 6yrs ago & about 135 last fall on I-88 in NY

I guess I'm getting old

Top speed on a moto doesn't attract this old dude anymore, rather hit fast twistys.

FYI
Stage I jetkit, Erion slip ons, K&N, stock gearing.

240 kmp/h. About 150 mph. Still had about a third of the throttle to twist but the fear got me. A couple of roos were near the side of the road.

pinned, indicated 260km/h, whatever that is for you yanks...

by that speed the vtr is out of power range and winding down towards the rev limiter. Theoretically, lengthening the gearing should give u a higher top speed as it puts you back into peak power. But who wants to do that?!?
