Hong Kong Bodywork

Hong Kong Bodywork
I have been looking some at the plastics sets from China and Hong Kong that are on eBay. I watched one entry end with no "bids" but it also had a "make offer" option too. I offered them $350 shipped. They countered with $430 shipped. It's a basic black set. What do you guys think....would it be worth $430 for a complete set?

Didnt someone just post on here about some? There are different companies but you are getting a bargain because they are bargain quality. Look on youtube, there are some videos about mounting them. In the end bodywork isnt structural so yeah, they will break if you fall.

Yeah, I saw the posts about the quality of the skins, but thought if the price was right, it might be worth having a "street" set so that I can switch them from my track set.
I guess my question is kinda like.....what's the price point where you would consider buying a set?

I wouldn't do it just to have the option of streeting it. I say that because I actually did that with one of my racebikes.
I repaired the entire set of bodywork, rode it a couple times on the street to get the feel of it, and its been a racebike ever since. Changing back and forth is a pain. You think you'll do it but wont. I am only keeping the street stuff to sell it as a streetbike (maybe). But it may not ever happen.
If you are not in a hurry you could probably piece together real street stuff. The whole set only seems worth it if you want to sell it as a street (non-tracked) bike for cash and prizes.

I've got one spare set now, and use my street set as a backup at the track. I don't find it all that hard to just swap the plastics. The only reason I don't just leave it for track use is that I don't go as much as I'd like and the bike shouldn't be setting in the garage unused. they deserve to be ridden.
Finding good used plastics is getting harder and will only get worse as time goes by since our toys are not in production any longer.

Dont do it mate.
I run an ex race bike on the street.
Its better to make up a projector light and mount an LED tail light.
Besides when you go racing again its like 4 screws and your done.
Race vtr's on the road own.
Iev done 4 runs over the mountain today (Mad sunday) and destroyed both with power and Grunt.
save money buy more go faster parts.
