Honda Press Release
Honda Australia’s market realignment
PRESS RELEASE – MEDIA EMBARGO FOR RELEASE 2/4/2009
Honda Australia’s Mr Mikio Yamada announces major revamp of motorcycle sales in Australia in line with the worldwide economic slowdown.
Mr Yamada said, “To ensure that Honda is to survive amidst growing market competition we will be reviewing our model range as of July 1, 2009. Honda will no longer attempt to compete with the cheaper Chinese and Korean imports in the scooter, ATV and off road markets. We will also reduce our road bike range focusing on our latest technology and niche market bikes like the stunning Space Age DN-01 and the GL 1800 Blackbird.
From July 1 our model range will consist of just 10 road bikes headed by the world acclaimed 1800cc Blackbird Touring Bike. Additionally Honda will market the rider and commuter friendly CBR125, the CB1000R, CBF1000, VT750C cruiser, DN-01, VTX 1300, VTX 1800, XR400M Super Motard and a single scooter model, the 150cc SH150i.
The offroad range will be limited to the CT110 farm machine, in response to environmental concerns as well as the cheaper Chinese and Korean competition."
With the falling of the Yen against world currencies Honda has reviewed model line ups across 45 international markets and believes the new Australian range will create a new energy and focus on a streamlined range. Worldwide trends showed a diminishing interest in super sport road bikes and that savvy consumers were now focusing on safety and value for money.
Australian Model Range and Retail Prices effective July 1, 2009 (subject to change and exclude dealer charges and on road costs)
CBR125 – entry level and superior commuter LAMS APPROVED $5,990
SH150i – mid range scooter with fuel injection LAMS APPROVED $3,990
XR400M - Super Motard LAMS APPROVED $7990
VT750C – entry level cruiser $10,990
CBF1000 – Honda’s all round sports and highway bike $16990
CB1000R – high performance highway sports machine $22990
DN-01 – space age hi tech super bike $17990
VTX1300 – American cruiser entry machine $16990
VTX1800 – Super cruiser $24990
GL1800 – Global Tourer $40990
Honda Manufacturing Australia’s (HMA) hi-tech production facility will not be impacted by the motorcycle market realignment. Honda lawnmowers are produced at this facility using components from Australian suppliers with some parts being imported from Japan, New Zealand, USA and China. The 19” and 21” lawnmower engines are sourced from Honda America and Jialing Honda China. Honda lawnmowers are sold nationally to domestic and commercial customers via the dealer network which comprises of over 400 dealerships. In addition to Australian sales, the product is also exported to 19 countries.

This was posted on the Ozfirestorm forum. Seemed legit until someone else pointed out todays date.
Some of that "release" is a direct copy and paste from the Honda Aust website. Its a fake I reckon

No VFR. No CBR1000RR either.
Another thing I noticed. OZ folks pay a LOT for their bikes. The "naked" CB1000R at $22990 AUD would be $16k USD at today's exchange rate.

You think it looks bad in pictures? Wait til you see it in person.
I saw a guy riding one of those DN-01s yesterday. That has to be the single goofiest looking bike I've ever seen!

Pretty funny! Another giveaway is the "GL 1800 Blackbird". You'd think Honda would know the difference between a Gold Wing and a CBR1100XX wouldn't you?? I mean, only 'cause they make 'em and all...

Though I started imagining a Blackbird with a flat six in it...yeah, that was the major giveaway.
