Hesitation when i gas it under load

Hello to all, The other day I was out for a ride with a friend when a guy in an suv wanted to cross two lanes and a double yellow and take the space between me and my friends vfr. This might not have been a problem but i made it one because it put me on the edge of the right lane. Insted of grabing a ton of brake i guned it. Hence the problem.
I was loafing along around 3K rpm in 6th gear i droped two gears and opened up the throtle to 80 / 90 percent I got nothing it felt like i lost spark. along with the rapid decleration insted of the burst of power i needed it scared me a bit. I got off the gas and slowly rolled into it 100 percent all was well. I was was on a mountain road and up at 9000 feet. but this happend once befor when i kind of was lugging the bike pulling on the freeway at 4500 feet. Anyone have any thoughts on this? The only thing different one the bike this year is a full service and i changed the air filter from a k @ n back to stock honda.
Imfo on the bike. 2000 supper hawk, jadine high mounts,de paired, stock gearing,38k miles, stock ccts, rectifier upgrade.
This bike allways ran great till this year. and this problem rarely happens. Two times now, Might be how i ride.
Thanks to all,
Love the hawk.

8541Hawk will become famous soon enough
How is the bike jetted and what altitude do you normally ride?

I'm in ABQ right now and have been riding at altitudes between 5-10K feet and had to run the "High Altitude" jetting to get the bike to run properly.

That would be drop the mains down one size & I even had to go back to the #45 pilots.

Sure glad I'll be back at sea level by next weekend......

In the words of Jeremy Clarkson.......power.....

Hawk and Superhawk are very different bikes.
Sometimes when ignition coils are old and beginning to fail, it will show up under heavy load. Don't know any specifics about the Hawk. You might find a better source of information on a forum site for that bike.

When was the last time those carbs were tore apart, inspected and cleaned? The rubber diaphragms could be compromised among many many other things. I had a Hawg GT before my Super. Loved it.
