Happy new year gravel trap
First off Happy New Year to you guys.
Out on a ride tonight in a really cold 28*F. (felt colder since we havent seen these temps this year). Coming over a hill on Queens Blvd, I am greeted with about 250' of a gravel spill! No way to avoid it safely (it spanned 2 lanes) so just rode right through.
Fun part was that it continued right through the intersection I needed to turn right. I became my own antilock linked braking and tiptoed around the turn. Crisis averted.

Well done Joe. Gravel is hard on the finish,(rider as well as bike). On these mountian secondary roads gravel is a nasty surprise around a curve, more problem during spring/summer shower season than this time of year.

Made the mistake about 15 years ago. It was a rare 50 degree day in the middle of Winter. Was making a right turn hit a patch of gravel and dumped the bike before I realized what was going on. Would like to think I learned since then, but it did give me an excuse to buy a new exhaust and intake setup.
