Front wheel saga (WTF)

Im having a hell of a time trying to get the right wheel for my SH.
Not sure whats going on. Im on my 3rd front wheel that wont bolt up. From what I have searched here the wheel to get is 98 cbr600 fronts and vfr fronts. In either case my rotors dont match up to the same bolt pattern as the wheels. The hawks rotors are narrower.
What a pain in the *** this little conversion has turned out to be.
I think its time to look into a whole front end that comes with a wheel too. lol
Anybody looking for some 6 spokers? Ive got plenty. lol

Which cbr 600 is the wheel from? I'm pretty sure it needs to be f3 or f4i,but don't quote me on that.

You might just need the rotors for the respective wheel, not sh rotors. They should still work with the stock forks and calipers.

Both were 98 or at least claimed to be.

So you are swapping just the front wheel not the forks? Or the forks too. Dont you need spacers to match?

F4 and F4i wheels won't work. The rotor mount and rotor offset are much different than the VTR.

F3 and early VFR wheels should work.

If it's any help I've seen ebay sellers advertise F2 wheels as F3 wheels or "F2/F3" wheels and they're not the same. Is it possible you have F2 wheels? Because other than where the rotors bolt up they look the same.

The wheels were sold as 1998 ones. cbr600 F3 on one and vfr800. I have original 98 Superhawk forks on my bike and trying to bolt on a cbr600 front. Spacers isnt the issue. Its the bolt pattern of the rotors.

Are the rotors supposed to swap over? I'm sure f3 rotors will make them work

VTR rotors will bolt on to a CBR600 F3 wheel.
The F4i wheels have 3 spokes and a larger rotor bolt circle - BTDT.

Can you post pictures of the wheels?

95-98 F3 and 94-97 vfr750 are the right fronts. I have run both, and swapped rotors as well.

vfr800 will not work, and they don't work on vfr750 either (of course).

I may be selling my 6 spokes soon. They will come with new tires (less than 1k on them) and the Stealth Supersprox 42 tooth sprocket.

Well after some calls, I see whats going on.... One, I messed up on ,and one is shops fault.. First wheel is a cbr900 17" They are getting back to me on the year.
The second wheel is a 98 VFR800 wheel. I thought I read in a search that the vfr800 would work? I guess not...Or maybe it will with vfr800 rotors mated up?
Funny thing is that both wheels are the same as far as bolt pattern and hubs etc.
Rwhisen thanks for the offer but unless you just want to part with the front rim im prolly gonna have to pass on it. I already did the cbr900 rear with new sprocket and I have a bunch of front tires stocked in the rafters.

ok so after some research. This should be what wheels use the same rotors according to Dennis Kirk site. Looks like I was off by one year on my 900rr wheel, and way off on my vfr800 wheel.

almost. You forgot to mention the 95-97 cbr900rr in your list.
Helps out a little since not too many good fronts are readily available.

Aesthetics. 6 spoke vs 3, rotors may be cheaper, more styles of rotor, but not much other than that

That's true, but most folks don't want a 16" front wheel. That is one reason the others are hard to come by, 900rr guys buy them to replace their 16" ones

Well correct me if im wrong but the first wheel I bought was claimed to be a 98/99 Cbr900rr front wheel.

The other wheel I had was a vfr800 wheel and it looks just like the cbr900rr wheel that i have. Both are 17"

Are you saying that cbr900rrs didnt come with a 17" front wheel?

They sure didn't. The CBR900s all came with a 16" front wheel. It wasn't until the re-design in 2000 with the 929 that Honda went with a 17" front.

Common swap on the 900 was the F3 front wheel.

What the hell? What friggin wheel do I have?
I thought it was a 900rr wheel since that is what it was listed as when I bought it months ago. It looks like the other wheel I had which was a vfr800 wheel, so I am guessing its just another vfr800 wheel.
Funny thing is that I just did some searching on this site and I saw a couple posts from a guy that said he used a vfr800 wheel with stock SH calipers.

I think its time to cut my losses and just wait for a reasonably priced f3 or vfr 750 wheel to pop up.

Anyone want a vfr800 front wheel with a new battlax 016pro front tire on it?
Beadblasted and fresh gloss black PPG paint on it. Balanced and ready to go.

Where did you buy it? Ebay? Is it too late to dispute the payment as an incorrectly listed item?
