dont like the stock seat

hey guys, so this past friday i got a ride up north to san fran from los angeles, to get my 2005 titanium hawk, i love the bike , but after riding it straight back i have come to the conclusion that i hate our seat. now i only know of corbin and their seat, but have any of you guys/gals have had the seat redone to be more comfy or should i just replace it all together.

I have a Corbin and love it. I've heard that Seargent seats are even nicer, but haven't tried one myself.

I think either would be a good investment...

P.s. Both come up on eBay occasionally. If you can't find one for sale here on the forums I would just keep checking there.

Getting the stock seat redone would not work, in my opinion, it's too narrow. I've had my Sargent for over 3 years, and I should have gotten it sooner.

I read this DIY article and it inspired me to try my hand at seat renovations.

DIYMotorcycleSeat.com - Home Page

I'd like to have a Sargent or a Corbin someday but for now, I'd settle for a seat that doesn't rap my junk against the tank every time I brake on a hill. I bought a used seat cheap and I've begun experimenting with the foam.

I'll post photos when I am further along.

I have a Sargent, and a Corbin Smuggler (kinda old). The Sargent is a perfect all day seat, the Corbin is rock hard...not certain if it's too old & needs a recover?
Sargents are definitely worth the $$, they improve the passenger's comfort also BTW.

A Sargent will take care of that.

Weird!!

Hey Megahawk.

I just did the same thing as you about three weeks ago? flew up to San Francisco and brought a 05 Hawk also? Rode it back to LA that same day. My bike came with a Sargent seat, I highly recommend it. Where abouts in LA are you? I'm close to LAX. Maybe meet up some day, compare Superhawks.

We all know that the 05 Titaniums are the best looking ones!

Completely understood. For $450 I'd expect nothing less. I am trying to beat the system for the fun of it, knowing I'll eventually go get a seat in first class...

I got my seat redone at Mean City Cycles, Maiden, NC. Call Allen and talk to him. He has several options as to what you need or want. Has a website, google mean city cycles. Just rode over 530 miles yesterday and I good to go more.

I'd like to get one some day but keep riding it. It took a while to get used to but I can ride for about an hour before having to stop. At first it was really painful to ride for half hour.

I know $450 sounds like a lot of coin when your OEM is probably in great shape - That was my reason for waiting so long. I can honestly say that my Sargent was the best mod I have ever done. Makes 300+ mile day a joy instead of a PITA

Nemo's sub sandwich knife and it is 10 times more comfortable than that damn OEM SH sh*t... i mean, seat. that damn thing was specifically designed to push your crotch into the tank.
