Man, why would you climb a mountain with a motorcycle?
I'd like to climb Mt. Wash on my road bicycle
Anybody doing 6-Gap this year in the Georgia mountains?

Wasn't me
...but I did it back in July. The 'hawk has plenty of engine braking to not have to ride the brakes all the way back down, so no worries. My wife was on the brakes of her V-star most of the way down, and we pulled over just before the dirt section so I could make sure she was okay with it. The dirt section is really well groomed, and hard-packed, so no real issues there either. No issues with cars or bikes coming the other way, either going up or down. The ride is really, really worth it. Since you were up there, I know you already know what the view is like, but for those who haven't been: CLICK HERE.
Plus, the road getting to the mountain isn't to shabby for a bit of mischief...

Six other guys andI showed up on Tuesday, Sept. 9, I think, hoping to ride up Mt. Washington. It was raining like an SOB and all of us were soaked. The guy minding the gate was a bit of an ogre. He wasn't nice at all about telling us we couldn't ride up even though we had Canadian licence plates and appropriate accents and had come a long way to ride up his mountain. All he had to say was: "Sorry guys. It's a safety issue." He treated us as though we were bringing in a new batch of bubonic plague.
There is a little hut at the entrance with a small covered porch that I was going to use for some shelter from the heavy rain while I put on my heated vest. He said: "We don't allow anyone on the porch." Well thanks a lot. I should have asked him: "What would Jesus do?" and hoped for a little thunder but thought the better of it.
