Dan Moto High mount Exhaust

Not happening.... I was hoping they would be willing to add this to the line up... but the feel the market is not there.
Hello Erik,

thank you for your interest in our products.

We don't plan to make high mount exhausts for the VTR.

It's a very small market and we don't think we can offset our costs.

There are still several NEW options out there:

vtr high exhaust | eBay

With best regards

The only company I know that still makes them is a Canadian company,
Hindle.

I've installed Hindle slip-ons for other customers in the past, and, it's a
good quality product, well made, and reasonably priced. FWIW....

I have a Hindle slip-on for my Zx7r and it was reasonably priced and has a great sound. Danmoto was still cheaper for the Hawk slipons, and I would have gone with them had they made them because they sound good as well (one of the hawkers I ride with has the low mounts) but oh well I like my Jardines any ways!

Nothing I see listed for the VTR1000F

Do you have a partnumber of the high mount system they make for the VTR?

DAMN ! My 2012 catalogue shows them as part of their line up. Just double
checked with my 2013 catalogue, and, it's no longer in it. Sorry about that.

I'll still take the time to call them and see.

Official word from Hindle, nothing left in stock, and, no intention on any future production. Unless you have an RC51 engine in your Hawk, then, those are available.

I think Jardine is still making high mount RT-1s.

Has anyone made custom mid-pipes to make low mounts into high mounts? This idea has been bugging me for a while, just haven't wanted to have the down time.

Very doable. Just need the right materials, and, time. If not, find someone who's willing to do it for you. But that always costs a little more.

Honestly any exhaust shop can bend the pipes with just a picture and maybe some mesurements, might not look as prety but you can always wrap or polish them, then all that would be left is build a hanger for them.....

Very few muffler shops (read almost none) will have a hydraulic mandrel tubing bender...and without that, your tube project will look,, well like it belongs underneath a 78 Chev station wagon.

CNC or manual mandrel tubing benders are very pricey ...and only true fabrication shops or some exhaust shop thats hanging pipe on a high priced cars, show quality stuff, Ferrari or bugatti veyron is going to have one.

Here is a typical muffler quality bend using a shoe and die hyd bender

This is what a mandrel tube bender does

And that's why I said to get it wrapped and it wouldn't look pretty, that's one of the ugliest bends I have ever seen. Haha.

How do you all think taking a stock header and using it as a parts kit would work? It would keep the same ID of pipe in the system and just have to be cut/welded to fit. Be similar to what is done for exhaust kits on non-stock cars.

Thought about it, wanted to, just don't have the time before I leave. I also was toying with the idea of if coming out under the oil pan, but not enough groud clearance then.

I thought about an exhaust under the bike too. Look at my build thread, post #45 for pictures. That's my inspiration. After doing some measurements on the Superhawk, I believe it can in fact be done. When I had no exhaust cans on my bike, I kinda liked the way it looked.

Curious...did they say how many they'd need to sell in order to make it worth while? Can't imagine it'd be a big deal if someone sent them say a pair of jardine midpipes and hanger brackets to duplicate and match up the midpipe outlet size to the mufflers they already make.

I looked at you post and love the design.... Hmm some cardboard may become some templates. I'll post up if I ever get anywhere with it. IYO do you think there would be enough back pressure with the very open box can?

Or send them to a pipe bender for quote.

How high do you want to go.
With the dans I had ,not much to modify R/H moves up to where you want it.
But the L/H needed fab work ,took it to a car exhaust place ,did it for $70
But where it is I have no pillion pegs and a/m rearsets, and made my own hangers to suit.

No pillion for me as well mate, for that I have another bike, a slower bike
I remember seeing your set up a while back, it looks good and I like that swept up look better then the usual high mount look, just a little too high for my own taste, though I have to admit it works well with that CBR tail.

Cheers mate

My friends 2003 999 with eBay car mufflers @ $23.99/each. Took it to our local race car exhaust system guru and he replaced all the pipe that contained the cats and fabbed this up for under $100. You can find the right exhaust repair shop if you look. Just find the diameter of pipe you want to use and have the shop order you pre-bent pieces of stainless pipe and piece the system together, like they do when making custom headers, and then you don't have to worry about bad bends.
