Of course, the best deal on washers is the one that's already on there. I replace these about once every ten oil changes.

Ever get any seepage reusing the old washer that many times?

I've reused the one on my goldwing since new. Never any problems. I couldn't see the logic in replacing each oil change unless it's damaged in some way. I just give a quick visual inspection, and back on it goes. (Prob. 8 times now)

Re: Cheap Honda brand Oil FIlters, Oil, & drain plug was

I re-use washers as well. Annealing is the answer here. Heat it up and it becomes soft and will work like a new one.

I will also smooth mine over with a file too if it needs it, to ensure it is flat.

Thanks for the P/N on the wally world filter. That rocks !! Im almost to 500 miles on mine and Im changing the oil once I hit it. Im a freak about oil changing so this will make it cheaper/easier for me. Ill probably change every 1500 miles or so..

Just FYI- at work we change the crush washer on ALL hondas (cars) EVERY TIME we pull the drain plug. Given that alot of idiots overtorque them, and after that they're used up.

I have spent hours and days studying the damn HONDA oils and filters. I keep getting different numbers for the stock Superhawk oil filter number. Anyone have it? I am looking for the least expensive place to buy an oil filter online. I have found the MM9 on only a few websites. How many motorcycle filters does Honda offer?

For people who are curious, I searched and couldn't find anything....here's a list of cross referenced oil filters we can use on our Hawk.

Are you replying to me. I was asking a very simple question. What is the stock one. I obviously read and reread this millions of times. THis is clearly not a simple question to answer. I have spent months trying to figure out exactly which one is the very best for my beast. I wont you anything from wally world, so i am still trying to figure it out. I just wanted to know what the stock number was. Please don't ever say i don't search. I went through every post that had "oil filter" in it last night and many other times trying to answer my question.

Yeah, i have read that throughly. It is really good. Anyone know what the exactly honda stock model number is? The number i have is the MM9, but it seems that it is a rarer number and other numbers are used often, but they look like they are the exact same size. So i am just trying to track down the stock model and if they have changed the model number to a more modern model number? I haven't been able to find the modern MM9.

Nope,

always torque to Manf. Spec. my 26 year old CBF (one owner) still has the original washer as well.

If they leak i say replace them, but if they are true and not de-formed i see no need ot replace.

I change oil in my off-road bike almost every ride. Still on the factory washer. If it was leaking any, I would see dusty buildup around it. So far so good in 4 yrs.

They DO deform. That just means they're sealing properly!

I've got 7 oil changes on my VTR's original washer and it's still working like a champ. I've been riding since the 70s and don't remember ever replacing one.

Holy crap! Now we're down to oil washers???

I see all the heavies weighed in on this one. I guess that means everybody is having a very boring winter.

It has been no peach orchard here.

Some guys are riding here but it was 36F and misting all day. Nobody is having fun. These guys bought high and got caught by the cost of gas.

They gotta ride it. It's just too expensive to drive the truck.

Well at least nobody's started another "what's the best VTR engine oil" thread.

Besides, I'd rather talk about drain bolt washers all day long than watch 5 minutes of TV about Britney Spears or the dead Broke Back Mountain guy.
