Carb Shim Procedure?

Just wondering if anyone knows of a write up for shimming the needles? I have stumble around 3K rpm and would like to shim the needles. I'm a little scared of carbs so if anyone has any good write ups on this it would be greatly appreciated.

The service manual and a very helpful article by Hawkrider "KB Article #6: Carb removal and jetting changes" are in the Knowledge base. That will get you into the carburettors.

There are a number of threads on this, but you'll have better luck doing a search if you use the key words "needle shim". It will certainly help with the 3,000 rpm glitch. Mine improved greatly with .020" shim. But it does require "lifting" the carbs to get to the front diaphragm cover screws. Be very careful with the plastic choke nuts...slip the rubber boot off before loosening.
