Any of you superhawk owners also ridden a Hawk GT?

I had one before the Superhawk. I liked it a lot. It was light and narrow and really nice for shorter rides but when I started looking at "fixing" it (suspension, exhaust, Targa fairing for longer rides), it became clear that I could sell it and upgrade to the Superhawk for far less than the cost of the upgrades. I paid $2500 for it, sold it 5 years later for $2300. Had my Superhawk for ~10 years now. Thinking of selling that for an SV650 but not ready to let her go.

Based on your discription, $1000, even if it needed some cleaning up and maintainence, it would have be a nice price. The deals are out there, be in the right place at the right time, and if you find something, don't hesitate. I recently picked up another '99 Triumph Daytona 955 w/ 2600 miles for $1600.
