Another option to increase fuel capacity.

Another option to increase fuel capacity.
Nothing fancy here, Just some proper fuel storage bottles to carry with you on your next long distance outing.

I'm pretty sure these bottles have been mentioned on here before at some point, but I was so excited to get a couple I thought I would share. I plan on taking these with me on my mountain rides where gas stations are less frequent. I also read on some other forums, that you can put just about any fluid needed for your bike....oil, coolant, brake fluid, whatever....
sweeeet!

I carry two of the liter size, one in each saddle bag when I take longer or routs I am not sure about. Have not actually had to use yet, but have been close enough to be glad I had them. Carried them for close to 6,000 miles and never had one leak.

those are pretty cool, if i had some type of storage on my bike id get a couple and keep them there, turns out running near redline at full throttle all the time really puts a dent in fuel economy

thats not even a bad price for them, just checked the site, 20 bucks for the big one. could be the difference between puttering into a gas station or walking to it. wonder if it would fit in my tank bag

Are these bottles vented? I can't access the website for them where I am right now. Does anyone that uses these bottles ever have issues with the gas vapors smelling up other stuff in the bags that you carry them in? Just wondering as I once had a nice little 2 mile hike after forgetting to take the fuel tank off reserve after filling up the Magna.

Why on earth would you have a vent on a bottle for fuel like that?!
No, they aren't vented, and they have no reason to be... And the caps on them are very secure... I have been using them for years for fuel for cooking stoves... If you manage to get one to leak, you have really, really abused it...
I'm fairly certain they are safer to crash with than your average fuel tank as well, since you'd need the most abysmalic luck for them to get caught enough to grind/puncture... I'm pretty sure they will give you a nice bruise though...

Please forgive my ignorance; I don't really know much about them, was just thinking if the bottles were jostled or even shaken (not stirred), then pressure could build up inside them. Aren't the gas caps on bikes vented?

Yes, as the fuel is used up, air needs to replace the fuel otherwise you wouldnt get far before the fuel stopped flowing. Almost like sucking through a straw, if the air couldnt get into the glass you would have dimples!

i think i may invest in a couple of those, even when im out on my quad there have been times where ive been miles from home and have run into reserve.
yeah that backpack is interesting. would be heavy as hell to wear and unless secured right would try to drag you off the bike in a hard corner. got any info on it? is it actually fuel storage or just a cool looking aerodynamic pack?

Have you heard of the software called "PHOTOSHOP"?

It was NOT "photoshopped" (see above. I just adapted some straps & backpacked it.

It was empty, as I was transporting it over to an associates where we cut & welded this OE tank to increase its capacity by about 1.1 gallons without making it any wider & less than 1.75" taller.

That was for the guy who thought it would be difficult to corner with. I thought it was do-able while transporting but figured everyone else knew it would have to be empty.
Kinda tounge and cheek as well. I thought Sarcasm was a pre-rec for this board and its members
