2012 Cross Country Trip on the VTR

The dates have been established for my Cross Country trip. And so far the bike will be the VTR. Unless something drastic changes, its time for me to start planning.

No routes have been established. But I am pretty sure that I will travel through the SouthWest towards the South then head north. Initially, my destination was to Maine. But I don't have a lot of vacation time.

Possibly meet up with some "web friends" along the way and maybe even bum a night on the sofa to save $$$. Pit stops for oil service and maybe a tire change?

Starting to get excited!

Miguel

I recently did a 1300 mile trip in 3 days. And the Throttle Rocker worked great. Home page

This part is definitely going to be traveling with me.

Definately plan out what you really want to see and do. As I told you recently, I just did the trip out west and back. 15 days, 7500 miles, big loop through the south to Calif, up to Lake Tahoe, across to WY, Mont, SD and back to NC. Cut out some of the planned Calif ride due to time. (Vacation days) If you come south and up through NC (Durham) you'll welcome to the couch (actually you can have a bed) if you want to hit the roads in the mountains I could meet you and ride with you thru NC into VA. Just figure how much you want to ride in a day. 500 miles a day takes a toll on you after many days. Let us know when you going to go.

Hit the dragon and the Appalachian Mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway (Skyline Dr) is nice but you can find some great curves along the Eastern edge of WV and the Western edge of VA that you can stop and see some caves, springs, and a lot of Civil War era sights.

This is a trip I was planning that I never got to do. Wish I had!
