190 rear

They were awesome until the Qualifiers came out. Now they're still good. Seems like it goes something like Qualifiers - Pilot Powers - Supercorsas - 208's - Sportecs. Of course, this is all intuition.. Maybe you should get some more input..

I just did a track day on the M1's and this is how my face looked as I was going around T2 at 120mph. Wow those tires SUCKED for track, just fine for street but not track!! If you're just starting out they'll do the trick but for the times I'm running it was like practicing how it feels to be REALLY fast without actually being fast.
As for the 208's I never liked them but that was just personal preference a lot of people wish they still made them just not me. If you're just riding street they should be fine, they get a little greasy on the track.

I like the old Supercorsa and the new Supercorsa Pro. Same thing that comes on the Daytona 675 stock.
A couple of guys at the SHOG Rally were running regular street Diablos and they were getting some nice lean angle out of 'em. I switched with L8RGYZ and liked the way they felt. Don't think I'd ever run 'em myself though.

NO not the Diablo the Corsa III it's the dual compound tire, I don't think.....no I know I wouldn't run the Diablo on the track. He was running the pro and actually liked the Corsa III better and ran faster times on the III than the pro and he's stupid fast!!

i can get the M1 sportec for $150 or so for both, i think its a better tire. Its just a 190. I think im gonna go with it

Yeah Lou, **** if you need some tires (or if you run into that problem with anything else) shoot me a PM. If you find a set in the US you want have 'em sent to me and I'll send them to you. It HAS to be cheaper that way no?

BTW, getting stuff sent up here has its issues as well..AKA customs and those bastards at UPS and their "brokerage fee"..I just got burned for $50 on $20 item with shipping @$30..So the triples that I thought was a good deal ended up costing me $100...woohoo....

I think the new 190/55 is a better option than the 50. I've been running this profile on my GSX-R 750 (same rim size as the SH) at the track and they are friggin' awesome. For street riding the advantages are probably nil, but I'm still thinking about trying one on my Superhawk. The profile provides a huge amount of rubber to lean on in the corner without affecting turn-in too much.

I have got about 2000 miles on my Diablos and most of that is striaght up and down street riding with no flat spot, But I get out to the curves every now and then (not much here on Oahu) but they stick like glue in my opinion
and NO FLAT SPOT. Guess they got the dual compound mixture just right for this tire.

Thanks Beau...I might take you up on it. Thanks a lot. If you ever need anything from up here like... snow...let me know...I will send that to you...:-)..but seriously, I've been doing the scrubs thing most of the time to defer the cost and it has worked out well thus far.

The superhawk has a 5.5" rim designed for a 180, you need a 6" rim to properly handle the handle the 190. The tire will crown wrong on a 5.5" rim.
Besides why run a 190? They are only on the one liters for looks. A 180 is a way better size. Why do you think professionals and serious amatuers always run a 180 no matter if its a 600, 750, or 1000. The shape of the 180 makes it easy to switch back and forth, the 190 makes cornering more sluggish. But then again they do look cool. Why not run a 290? Just my .02...

This is much different than the 190/50 profile which is not recommended for a 5.5 rim. This is the tire (US made 209 JLB Construction) I am using right now:

For those guys that are using street tires on a track, why are you trying to go so cheap? I'd rather spend a few extra bucks on good sticky tires rather than spending a whole lot more later on a broken bike or worse yet a broken body.

+1 Most of the expert CCS and Wera guys I talk to are all running the 190/55 if they're running Dunlop because they have a larger contact patch. The Dunlop 190/55 is made for the 5.5 but a 190/50 is not and I wouldn't run that because you will have a very small contact patch until it wears down.
Kevin, I usually DON'T run street tires anymore on the track but was broke and jonesin so I ran it, the only good thing is it forces you to be smooth or get bucked!! At a novice pace though I would run street tires all day long and not think twice about it. I know guys that run expert pace on street tires and actually ran lower times on the M 1's than I did on my race tires,(although I had to be careful), and I actually liked the feel of the Qualifiers better than I liked the Power Race PR5. All that said race tires will give more feedback though.

Well i got the 190/50 120/70 set mounted!! It rides like a different motorcycle now. Havent got to try it out in the twisties yet but it handles way different. Its going to take some getting used to i think but ill let you know in a few days after i get some mileage on it if i like it or not. It does look pretty sick!!

joshn569 sorry to hijack your thread, I realize you're picking tires for the street, but IMHO I think you are making a mistake with those tires. Your rear is now multi-radiused and handling will suffer. Regardless, if you must you them, please be careful on those things...
