10 degrees, heated gloves
So wow, guess I got the gerbings heated gloves just in time.
Rode home in 10F tonight. Bike was a bit slow to start since it sat outside all night, but got going. My thermometer was at 12*.
I really wasnt cold on the ride, even at 70mph in high winds. The temp dropped to 10 from Manhattan to Queens.
The bigger concern was the black ice which somehow I found a 50 ft patch of it, but pulled in the clutch and rolled right over. (@ 45-50mph)
Was wearing a fieldsheer hydrotour jacket and some thin snow pants.

I 2nd that...
But while I have heated grips and a heated vest I coincidentally have been looking at heated gloves (though my wind and water-resistant Cortech Hyro GT gloves are spectacular! $75 from Motorcyclegear.com).
What Gerbing model did you get and from where and how much?
I've been looking at...
WarmGear Mens 12v Heated Leather Gloves (Pair) | CozyWinters
WarmGear 12v Heated Leather Gloves with Carbon Guards | CozyWinters
though read below about the above gloves
Warmgear | Dakotabiker
and these...
Tour Master Synergy 2.0 Heated Leather Gloves - Motorcycle Superstore (maker of my vest)
First Gear Heated Carbon Gloves - Motorcycle Heated Gloves - Jafrum
Venture Heat 12V Heated Carbon Gloves - RevZilla
Ultimate II Touring Heated Gloves - Warm & Safe Heated Gear, LLC Mike private labels the FirstGear heated gloves)
and CycleGear has their own brand that I think are private labeled by another maker...

Yeah, your eyes adjust. Plus you NEED a fog city shield so you can leave the visor down.
Skokie, those all look way nicer than what I got. I just got basic gerbings. I tried the heated grips when my commute yr round was 70mi each way but I only got hot palms and cold fingers.
Really you gotta ride with 2 fingers on each lever so they freeze with heated grips.
I got these super cheap on bay Gerbing Heated Gloves XXL | eBay
Figure I only need them a few days a year, they will die of old age before they ever wear out.

Yeah the salt is actually a real traction reducer. It makes it really hard to judge surfaces. Oh and if you leave your visor up, it burns your eyes as the cars make it into dust.
The awesome part now is all the great folks who throw their snow into the streets. Turn out the hawk is half gs1200.
