That guy is dreaming. In January of '05 I paid about $6200 USD for my brand new -leftover '03 VTR. Included the warranty, 1 year road service and a free subscription to the Honda World or whatever it is magazine. I doubt anybody has paid $8k USD for a new VTR in the past 8 or 10 years. The VTR is a cool enough bike that someday, guys will pay $8 for a minty one. That day has not yet arrived.

There are still plenty of NOS around at dealers for around 9k... And a good low mile 04 and newer (5 year warranty from Honda) usualy goes at around 6k-7k-8k... Older than that they drop of pretty fast...
New in Sweden when it was a current model 06, continuing to sell as 07's it cost around 11-12k... Then that was the later years with dropping sales... Before that it was closer to 13k new...
I bought my 97 in 01 for 6k... And that was an absolute steal... A buddy of a buddy needed money fast and sold it with low miles, pristine condition... If he had had the time to sell it properly he would probably have gotten 7k or a bit more at that time... His asking price was 8k and I talked him down to 6.5 ish before hand (at the time it was defintely a buyers market...) and lowballed him slightly, 6k in hand - sale now... And he went for it...
To note for you guys... What is the price new right now for a oh say CBR1000RR ?? 12k base price in the US...
In Sweden the base price right now is 17.5k... a new 08 at the dealers is ~16.2k... And BTW that is rising again fast as the $ is going the wrong way...

It's still a hell of a lot cheaper on your side of the pond...
