what makes someone a biker / motorcyclist?

Sorry to break it to you, but I do own a superhawk, have sense 2003.
The reason why I threw this fact out there is I think that a LOT of people assumed that my co-worker currently rides a H-D. In fact he now rides a VFR800.
I was wondering if anyones opinion would change, because of the style/brand/kind of bike that he rides.

In my case, I don't allow myself to discriminate based on type of bike, but on the person riding it. However, once that person shows me who they are, i.e., through empirical evidence, I may decide to discriminate.

I would say of course the opinion changes because the VFR is a super sensible bike. Does everything well. Even if he was thinking of a sportbike & got a gixer that would be dumb & squidish. It is at least a good step toward being a biker.
The guy on my block ran out & got a gixer 750 for his FIRST bike. Way over paid of course. Really dumb but I couldnt take sense to him. Cant tell you how great it is to have a first time rider try to tell you he has a faster bike than you. Kind of like getting jordan's shoes & thinking you can play like him.....
