It is goofy looking if you compare it to the Tail WGs, but works fine so I'll save that $500 for something else

It has a 6 lb spring in it, so I can use an electronic boost control to dial it up!

Does that come standard with the compressor inlet anti surge ports or is that an option. BB great choice for that should spool quicker than even a 50 trim.
Forced performance put up a white page on oil recommendations for my motor 4g63 maybe you could leverage some of their data for a choice oil for your new toy

anti surge housing is a $69.00 option and prolly worth every penny as insurance

as far as oil, I'll be running straight KY jelly in this one cuz the ladies will be chasing me down the road

Up on jack stands

Last night I got her up on jack stands and started accessing the brakes. Looks like I'll need new pads for all 4 corners and rotors turned. I'm thinking SS brake lines are in order too...

Maybe I'll go crazy and powder coat the calipers...maybe not

always looks nice. I'd be more interested in replacing/updating all the suspension bushings. what does it have for suspension now or all stock? is the car pretty original?

I agree and yes it's mostly original with Bilsteins on all 4 corners.

I'm starting with the hubs and brakes and will work my way through it slowly but surly

Heads getting assembled

2 heads down and 4 more to go...if I were building a SH I'd be done with the heads by now!

here's two tricks that my help when you're building up your heads:

1- put some assembly lube on the valve stem in the keeper groves so when you get a keeper on the stem it will stay and not fall off when you hit it with the second keeper

2- put some Dow Corning pure silicone grease on the valve stem seal to insure a nice seal. I use the end of a fat sharpie to dip in the grease then run it around in the seal. She'll be air/oil tight fosho then

I've been watching this since you posted the thread. These Boxer engines sure are interesting. I have never opened one up or even worked on one, so it's cool watching this one being built. Looking good so far man!

Thanks & I'll be makin more headway once a get some more parts in. I'll keep the pics coming even if it takes me a year to restore this baby. Come to think of it 12 months would be a record for me...just ask anybody here that followed my last build

Progress this weekend

Waiting for some o-rings before I can close up the motor, so working on front end this weekend, added a missing spacer on one of the spindles, replaced all A-arm and sway bar bushings, removed and ordered all new wheel bearings, ball joints and control arm joints. Once I get all the new bits on including the upgraded strut inserts the front end should be tighter then when she rolled outta the factory 24 years ago!
