Stripping the coatings....
Hey all...
In the process of my "slow moving" RC front end swap, I am attempting to strip the parts down and Powder Coat / Polishing some of the pieces...
I'm having a hell of a time getting the black off the RC upper triple, and the silver off the caliper brackets. I've used about everything I can get my hands on to get the coatings off, and besides sanding or using the wire wheel on my bench grinder, I've had absolutly no luck.
Has anyone taken the coating off any of these type parts???? If so, what did you use or do??? I'm trying ot use chemicals as the surfaces are already nice, and sanding and stripping with the wire whel does nothing but add more surface finishing work to the process... anyone????
BTW.... I've used Oven Cleaner, Gasket Remover, Aircraft Stripper, The tyipcal Paint remover/stripper that smells like death, Citrastrip from H/D, and Eastwoods Paint and Powdercoating Stripper which is supposed to be the greatest ever.... except in my case.)

Have you tried this stuff called Peeler ( found it at wal-mart) its worked pretty good on everything I have used it on spray in on let it sit for 5-8 minutes and blow it off with compressed air, seems like it was only $6-7 bucks , last time I used it to get the heavy clear coat off my factory Impala SS wheels so I could polish them . I had used aircraft stripper on my Camaro rims and this Peeler stuff worked 10 times better ! Might be worth a try.. Its the 4th one down on the Klean Strip site http://www.kleanstripauto.com/products/removers.html

YOu may run into problems as the parts you mention are most likely anodized. If this is the case, the colour actually penetrates the "upper layers"/surface (as it was explained to me by the company that anodized some parts for my VTR) of the part and removal will essentially require removing material (it is not a surface treatment like painting and powder coating).
