Well this might be a bit odd but when did the Pound notes change?
Also can you still use the old style notes?
Just asking as I was going through some stuff and found 100 pounds.
I went to the currency exchange and was told they are the old style and they no longer exchange them.
So do they have any value or should I just burn them

In a british accent say "[britishacc]WTF man[/britishacc]" to the exchange person. Have you checked with your bank? thats allot of american $

£1 notes went out of circulation in 1984-1988. Toss them away into a crowd at your local mall or sell them on ebay

Does not matter how old the note is, it will always retain it's face value.
Only issue is you need to exchange them back in old blighty! Hmmm? I'm off to England in August after Moto GP. I'll exchange them for you if you want?

Well if they are £10 and £20 pound notes rather than pound notes then they are legal tender though a bit old. Get them to the Bank of England and exchange them there.

I have a 5000 Mexican peso note from about 20 years ago, just before they divided the peso by 1000, so that it wouldn't look so worthless (5000 pesos became 5 pesos). It's good for about 42 cents US today. That won't even buy a fish taco.

All notes, however old do retain their face value, but for those taken out of circulation, the only place you can exchange them is at a UK Bank - so if you £100 in old notes, they'll exchange them for £100 in current notes.
