That raises some concern for me, Drew.. I'm no accountant, so my knowledge is limited... but, in order to get more back at the end of the year than you paid in, wouldnt you have to be very low income? If that's the case... Brother, you definitely dont get paid enough. I have a friend that went to Iraq, and was there for nearly a year (9+ months). He's a nuke in the navy.. With combat pay, and per diem, and all the other pays he recieved.. (I think) he made over $100k.. and came home with over $60k in the bank... Has a family here in the states, and they lived off what he made during the year... that's why he didnt bank the whole 100.. And he is a reservist "seabee".

If I were to have been here a year(it will be much longer) I would clear 49,800. I make about 7500 a year less than that in the states. But there is a catch, only 31 of that is taxable because of the way our pay works. Over here it's all tax free up 82k, which obviously I don't have to worry about.

Buddy of mine is an Army Ranger and just got sent home from his 4th tour because he got shot in the hand and ultimately lost his trigger finger. He's since learned how to shoot using his middle finger and is going back in January for his 5th tour. He mentioned that while over there and receiving hazard pay he's making ridiculously good money. No amount of money in the world could replace him, and money's not why he's doing it, but it does give him peace of mind to know that his wife will be taken care of in the event he doesn't get to come back home vertically.
I'm the first generation in my family in a long time to not have joined the military service and it's a thought that still crosses my mind periodically, though I believe I'm reaching the max age to sign up.

It's not even that per se... but seriously... if you're the president of the united states. Essentially the most powerful man in america, and the best you can come up with is Lewinksi? I'm sure there were a lot better looking interns to be found in the white house.
