OEM front ends do suck! I was riding with a buddy whos on an RC51 and it was all I could do to keep up with the hawk dancing all over the place!! But hey, im used to it now and flip it right in there

Lots of advancements have been made with mesh jackets. It will be my next purchase for sure because I'm riding all summer. That's just the shape of life right now.

Even with mesh stop and go traffic is going to be hot. Plot a new route. If it's 10 miles longer who gives a **** - you're on your bike and you're moving.

I've been on that stretch of I35 and it sucks for no reason - well almost. Maybe you can run west from the house and then find something that runs south to the airport. ?

My biggest issue with I35 is **** falling off trucks. It just isn't purty no matter how it goes down. That's why I always take 12 down to the hanger. Stop and go traffic is the clue to a new route.

Back in the day, one of the film tech's that I worked with rode a Kawasaki standard to work everyday. One day an aluminum extension ladder came off the truck in front of him. In stead of impaling him it landed in a straight line with his line of travel and he drove over it like a bunch of little speed bumps. When Austin was building in every direction at a fever pitch there was **** on the road all the time.

281 is my only other route and it adds about 20 extra minutes and the traffic is worse.

My current jacket is suppose to be somewhat mesh, but just barely. I just want something that breathes alot better. The Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket seems to be what i'm looking for.

Not to mention the collar on my current jacket fit's like a turtle neck and that adds alot of heat also.

I drive this route every day and i am very aware of all the obsticles. The worst thing i ever hit was a doe (deer) traveling about 60 mph on impact. She just appeared out of nowhere. I locked up my arms and braced for impact. She took out my windshield and all 3 headlights on my RoadKing. Never lost control and just slowed down to a stop and had to regain my nerves. This happened about midnight on my way home from work, had to drive the last 20 miles with no lights!

Can't you cut west of Brooks and then go south to the airport?

You gotta get lucky on some of the lights. I'm sitting on the 98 coming back from the shop and it's showing 226 on the digital. I'd still try it. At the time of day you have to go in traffic should be moving smoothly. At the time you come out. I35 is prob a good option for a fast jet to the house. OK - I'm going to look for a map!

The way i go is actually the best way for me. Just have to deal with about 3 or 4 miles of traffic, not really that bad. Just gets hot when it slows down. You would think that at 2 pm it would be moving somewhat good, buts it's not!

OK back from the maps. It looks like the most direct route is I35. However, if you drop south first and come east through Universal you might avoid the I35 jam up. Fifteen minutes on a 220F motorcycle is not my cup.
