Actually, it is a problem. Per Robert Rector's landmark study for the Heritage Foundation, the average "low wage immigrant" uses $20,000 per year more in social services than they pay in taxes.

 

No, I was being facicious (not sure about spelling of that word). I meant that WE could pay more taxes.

Heck, I've even got room for a few of them in my garage, and one could sleep on my couch.

 

Yeah, I figured that out right after I hit the post button. (it's facetious btw)

Here in Ca. in particular I think they're already past the saturation point on taxes. Businesses and productive people leaving the state in droves. The self employed hiding their cash or deciding to kick back and not work as hard.

 

I often wonder who is the "Big Dummy", me who works 15-17 hours a day mon-fri and 8hrs on sat or the shitbag sitting on the couch collecting all the benefits my hard work (taxes) help pay for?

 

Has anybody here sat their children down and talked about your income and how much you make with them?

 

I have never been one to discuss my money with my children, only to show them the proper way to save, pay bills, invest, etc... and how important it is to maintain good credit.

 

Well my kids, cough, young adults are 23yrs, 21yrs & 16yrs. They seem to think that the "Bank of Dad" never runs empty!

 

I recently sat all 3 down for a family meeting. Pulled out my income and monthly bills and layed it all out for them to see. (no I did not show them savings or 401k)

 

I think they saw that dad is not rolling in it nor does he have pockets to his ankles. My kids could not believe I payed over 43k in taxes last year.

 

This meeting was held about 6 weeks ago, my older kids have yet to ask me for money after they spend their money going out on the weekend.

 

Yes they are in college, live on their own and have jobs. I have a new grandbaby by the oldest.

 

We have always talked to our kids about money, saving, etc....

 

That's what good parents do

 

on the flip side, bad parents teach there kids about money as well...

It's probably most of an hour's ride maybe another half. The wind is supposed to get bad on Tuesday. Launch on Mon 1030. Back by 0300. Wind is to pick up later in the afternoon and we'll be driving right into it if it's early.

I would definately ride it like a church lady, havent' been on a bike with any power for a long time!
