8 more freaking years....

Or longer if things get a little better. I wouldn't mind a bigger retirement check, but not at the expense of my family. LOL

Well guys... what do you hear from people around you.. is their work situation bad? Or is it just people talking, and falling into the "if I hear it it must be true" syndrome?

I know of several people that have been laid off due to the economic situation. Some of it is due to the fact that those company's hired too many people, and or they want to continue to show a profit and the easiest way to cut $$ is to cut salaries...etc...stupid idea for the long term growth of the company, but to each his own...

I know that at my wife's new company they have laid off a few production (builders) guys, but they only cut minimal, and will bring them back as the market begins to pick up...

I think if that moron that was just elected would have gotten on the box and did a little song and dance about how things are beginning to look up, people like the sheep they are would begin spending again, and the economy would come back around a little faster...I mean where is the hope he promised, where is the change??? oh, I guess I have to save that speech for after the anauguration!! LOL...

These statements are funny together. I just got a decent pay raise and will be getting another one in a few months. Plus a HEALTHY one for the year I'm gone.

It is kinda tight right now. We purchased 75 plants last year and have shut down 5 of those since then plus laid off a significant amount of employees from the existing 155 plants.

We recieved an e-mail a few weeks ago stating that we are expecting to cut 1000 to 1500 salaried positions over the next year.

We do work for a company that did that VERY thing... keeps more money in the bank.. making the "stockholders" happy. making it appear the company is stronger than it really is...

And you deserve every ******* penny of it. Hell, if had it my way I would put 700 billion into doing it your way rather than these ****** in the business sector. They are doing their level-best to destroy the honest integrity of the USA with their crooked selfish deals. Or have done so already.

Rand, I'm glad J's home for the holidays and I hope you guys have some great times. You're right things are mighty toned down around here but they're not at a stand-still either.

I appreciate your political assessment and I think it's accurate. Let's just hope he's as smart as he thinks he is.

We're with ya, Drew! If it's any comfort our Moderator, TxSuperChicken ships out about the same time for his second tour after being home about a year. I ride with him and he is a trusted mechanic when he helps me work on my bike. He won't brag about it but I will. He, like you, is a skilled craftsman at his trade. He put in for retirement after the last tour (early surge) and was promoted. A promotion that he turned down more than once. Seems the Army has renamed the second door from the corner office to more his liking. I like hearing from you guys while your at the office. I remember your first tour. IRC you had gotten your Superhawk just a few months before you shipped out.

But, I digress!

My kid and I used to 4-wheel on that land. The nursery is about 5 minutes away.
