Haven't tested head space yet, but checked the firing pin and it seems to be within spec...so figure I'll just throw a sand bag over it for the first shot, then look at the case to see if there is anything unusual going on...

I have a problem with statements like this. While i don't blame one President either, most people tend not to understand how things work.

President Clinton rode the wave of 12 years of decent, perhaps good, Presidents preceding him. Thus his entire first term and nearly everything that happened in it were a direct result of President Bush. During President Clinton's Second Term, we saw the results of his first term. They were not as stellar as we perceived his first term. During President Bush's first term, which was dismal, those were the effects of President Clinton's second term. By now I think you follow the reasoning.

We are now only feeling the effects of President Bush's first term.

The effects of a President are not seen until the following term. Very few things that they do during their term have an IMMEDIATE effect.

I do not wish to discuss who did what, only that it is not always as it seems.

DeathCattle,
I've been preaching that philosophy (predecessors paving the road for the newcomer) for years, and most people don't know how things work, that is for sure. I find it hard to comment that nearly everything is a direct result of the previous president; Bush has made some mistakes that we are feeling now, thus my belief that he has done a dandy job of making things worse. Things started going down before his second term, but maybe some were too blind to see it. For instance, I was on a contract for Homeland Security shortly after 9/11. In theory, the idea of having similar agencies working together is great. However, there were countless. wasteful projects like the one I was on where DHS got a large pot of gold with no oversight for the spending. One year of spending with 900 people (700 of them were managers) should not equate to one, non-functioning portal web page. Sure, the large corporations are guilty as charged for raping the government and the taxpayers yet again, but I knew that this kind of waste was going to hurt us fairly quickly. Hell, West Virginia alone 'misplaced' one year of DHS funds ($250k). We are all just discussing our views, albeit incompletely. As they say, you must walk a mile in another man's shoes before passing judgement on their views. I can relate to Obama supporters just as much as McCain supporters. Either guy would have to deal with our current issues come January, and I don't envy either of them with that knowledge. Honestly, it is enlightening to have philosophical conversations in this forum, where we all share a love for somethings, and dislike for others.
My problem is that there are some items that took no time to **** me off, like Bush cutting research for something that I feel will help mankind. In the end, all people are fallible. During the Great Depression, FDR stated that you have to try something and stick to it. If it fails, then you have to try something else. I'm just hoping that our elected leaders, good or bad, can make the decisions to pulls us out of this mess, and as you stated with previous examples, it may be 12 years before we see any, long-term result. If I hold on to my job, then Obama will have met my only short-term requirement.

I plan on taking it out to Uwharrie this weekend, not sure which day yet..Ammo came in this week, so plenty of that...I also wanna take my 06 out and put it on paper...along with a little .40 practice...

Sure wish Aim would go ahead and ship those AR lowers I bought...if they don't ship soon I'll have to cancel the order...as I will be moving at the end of Jan...
I just got off the horn with one of the pistolsmiths that I'm working with. My Ruger GP100 project will be under way in two months, and the soon-to-be owned SP101 will have its moonclip conversion done at the same time.

I assume that you are referring to a .30-06. What kind is it? What lowers did you buy?

Have you bought Go-NoGo-Field gauges yet? Ima gonna buy 7.62x54r, .30-06, .303, and maybe .308 and 6.5x55 since those are the main surplus cartridges that I am slobbering over.

I bought a tin of 7.62X54R Russian for my 1891/59 carbine. Snap shoot and hit the foot square gong at 300 yds every time, but had to pound the bolt open with the heel of my hand after each shot. I believe I'm first to shoot it since rebuild/arsenal refinish and bolt/receiver and all other #s match so I doubt a head space problemo. Was about 105 degrees that day plus hot ammo I think. I pulled down a few rounds and removed 3 grains of powder. I'll put some rounds in the ice chest with sandwiches and drinks next time. Hope that does it. I'd hate to have to pull bullets and dump powder from 720 rounds.

This is a clip from the best concert I ever went to. Fillmore East March 1971

Duane Allman died when a truck turned left in front of he and his motorcycle in 1971.

World's greatest pistol

After careful consideration, I've come to the conclusion that the 9X19 Browning HiPower is the world's best pistol. It fits my smallish hand better than any other hi-cap pistol. CorBon loads with the 115 sierra hollow point exit my HiPowers at about 1425 fps. Some guys insist the 45 acp is mandatory, but none of them have ever volunteered to stand in front of my HiPowers when I pull the trigger 'cause they don't want to die. Ha Ha!

I've put about 30,000 rounds through my two HiPowers with no failures of any kind. If you want the world's finest self defense implement, get a HiPower!

I love my .45 and 9x19 for different reasons. If I had some extra loot for a 4" 1911, I'd carry one, but I'm putting my bills into wheelgun gunsmithing right now, so I' m happy with a 9mm. You are right...no one is volunteering to prove how 'weak' the 9mm is when compared to a .45.

I would love to get an M1A. The used market seems to be low supply because people love them.

Traded my SKS for my MKIII Hunter last year. The Chinese SKS was too small for even my Filipino frame (knuckle dug into my cheek every shot). I picked up a Bushmaster for $669 last year as well. I'm currently trying to sell my SHawk and parts, and I was planning on using all of it for another ride, but since I don't ride much in the first place, its hard not to put some money back, and use some of it for reloading supplies, etc.

As far as I'm concerned, I 'stole' my Bushmaster. I'm not selling it. I'll sell my M40 since it is unshot and a collectible, before I sell my AR.

Alright, took the Mosin to the Range...Wow, that things is a Riot to shoot...We only put 80 rds through it, that's about all my shoulder would take after 20 rds of 30.06 from my new Savage...Needless to say, it was a sore 2 days to follow...

The weapon shot perfect..after 30 rounds I swabed out the barrel, and after each 20 rds I shot a little oil on the bolt...she only heated up a little after a 20 rd streak, and the bolt was a little sticky to open...a little lube and good as new...Fun times, can't wait to grab another...perhaps the m44 this time...dunno...

Randman said, 'Lube'....uh, huh-huh.....

I now have a problem. I got the cash put back from the parts that I have sold from my SHawk so far, and it is all supposed to go to whatever I buy next. However, I just found a sweet deal on a barely-broken-in S&W Performance Center 627, and on top of that, my Ruger GP100 is going in for action work in January. I hate dilemmas......

GP100, I had one and it was a very nice shooting iron...little heavy on the trigger pull, but I like the weight and feel...
