That means less than it seems. 64% of in country "Latinos" are Mexican. Fewer than half are here legally and only a third of those here legally ever bother to apply for U.S. citizenship (and the right to vote), according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
All "Hispanics" account for about 7.5% of the vote, barely half the percentage of African Americans.
Most of the citizen-voter "Hispanics" are Puerto Rican or Cuban, neither of which have any use or need for amnesty, neither of which are especially fond of Mexicans btw.
Cuban Americans in particular are about 99% white ethnic Spaniards whose European ancestors spent a couple of generations in Cuba en route to the U.S. They hate socialism, vote conservative and have more in common with gun toting Appalachian hillbillies than they do with La Raza Aztecs.

Thanks for the update Skipper!
You couldn't pay me to vote for Obama. I'll be voting third party. Is that a protest vote? Yeah, and a safe one. You see, California, where Ronald Reagan won four landslides, is now so full of the folks McCain wants to fill up the other 49 states with, that McCain's chance of winning California's electoral votes is precisely Zero Point Zero.
Ron Paul, Nader? Is there a conservative third party candidate?

Not Ron Paul. He's running for reelection in his Texas Congressional District.
Bob Barr is running as a Libertarian and Chuck Baldwin from the Constitution Party. Neither has the slightest chance of getting elected, but both are way more small government conservative than McCain, who I consider to be essentially a moderate/liberal Democrat with an "R" after his name. It's a protest vote for those who can't stomach the me too big gov liberalism of the current GOP leadership.
I understand folks voting for McCain even if they don't like him, given the Obama alternative. I won't do it.
Especially since I live in one of the states which McCain won't even bother contesting, the protest vote is a nothing to lose no brainer.
The only problem I have with a protest vote ... is that it takes a vote away from McCain.. possibly giving the win to Obama. I dont here the Dems saying they are going to "protest vote" for an independent, they seem pretty tightly bound. That being the case... just brings me concern..

Cleveland;
That's a concern if:
1. You actually like McCain (I don't) or
2. You're at least willing to hold your nose and do that "lesser of two evils" thing (I'm sick of doing that) AND
3. You live in a state where it might actually matter (I don't).
McCain/Edwards McCain/Lieberman McCain/Fiengold McCain/Kennedy
Can anyone name a piece of conservative legislation with McCain's name on it?
Whenever the the hardcore left has needed a GOP stooge to cosponsor and sanitize their marxist agenda and ram it down the throats of conservative Republicans, they've always had a friend in McCain. He's done more to undermine conservatism and back stab his own party than anybody I can think of. I wouldn't vote for him under any circumstances.

That other stuff, to, I am aware of.. Truely, though, I am just too concerned with the "change" that the dems may bring..
Let's be realistic for a minute. Can an independent win THIS election... I believe "no"... So my choices are limited to Obama and McCain.. of which I will vote McCain.. he has a blemished past.. but so do I. I havent always made the best choices... this may be one of them.. However, I'm SURE that voting Dem would be a worse decision than voting Rep...
(sheepishly raises had) #2.. guilty... and tired of it also...

Can an independent win? Not unless he inherits 150 million dollars by the end of the week and is willing to spend it all in the next three months.
A lot of folks will disagree, but I look at it this way;
We had to put up with two years of Clinton to get the GOP Congress in '94. They were actually worth something there for a while, but it never would have happened if "read my lips" Bush had been reelected.
We had to put up with four years of Carter to get Reagan. That's a deal I'd take anytime, but there is a good chance it wouldn't have happened after four more years of Gerald Ford.
I'm voting third party 'cause I can't stomach the other two, but if Obama gets elected, the GOP might reorganize, revitalize and start acting conservative again. If McCain wins he'll destroy the GOP, which is what the bastard has been working to do for the last 10 years anyway.
Finally, McCain wants amnesty, welfare, food stamps and voting rights for tens of millions of illegal aliens, and he wants it more than Obama does. The Dem congress is more likely to give it to him too. The Dems get millions more clients for their welfare state, millions more voters for the welfare state, and the "Republican" gets the "credit" for bankrupting and destroying the country as we know it.
I apologize for being so cheery so early in the morning.
BTW... I meant no offense to any independent parties... Was just being realistic in the sense that none of them have a large enough base to be sucessful.. yet. Not that they shouldnt continue to build.. I'm all for it.. (then why havent I converted.. refer above to my concern)..

I appreciate the info... dont appologize.. I dont have anyone in my office to bounce these things off of.. (I'm the only one here..lol..) so I appreciate the conversation (as much as it is.. )
Cleveland;
When McCain realized that Amnesty was wrecking his campaign, he claimed he "got the message" and started talking about border security. As soon as he realized he was home free, he started blabbing again about "comprehensive immigration reform", which is the Orwellian phrase meaning amnesty, employed by those lacking the integrity to call it what it is.
A week or so ago he gushingly addressed the National Council Of La Raza (The Race)
They have a lovely slogan;
"For those of the race (Mexican), everything, for those outside the race, nothing."
Can you imagine a candidate sucking up to a group of white english speaking Americans with a name and a slogan like that?
A few days before that he was campaigning in Mexico City. I don't know what's wrong with him.
It's my day off. I think I'll go buy a bottle of bourbon now.

I can assure you.. IF I were an elector, then I wouldnt be hanging out in here.. I would be on some beach somewhere, sipping some fruity-highly-alchoholic drink... cause you know those people are all wealthy. Not from grants.. but to get to that level of importance, you have to know people..
I was making coffee in the mornings and sometimes I had to go before my second, beeing a practical man I was leaving the sugar open between the two fill ups, my ex girlfriend were waiting for me after work sitting on the table with the sugar jar opened carefully placed on the table, so pissed off almost in tears.
I froze, I was waiting for her to say, baahaha, gotcha !!
Never happened
To myself : "How in hell I ended up in this place ??"
The next day I stuffed my car with all I had and drove back to my hometown while she were gone to school.
