We had a light winter here in New England last year. A friend rode his VFR all but 12 days last year.
He has a full suit from Aerostich, a heated vest, and heated handgrips. Usually wore a balaclava and a gator around his neck.
I have a 83 Honda XL600R right now, I save at least 4 dollars a day over driving my Cherokee.

I went to Dick's sporting goods and bought a cheap snowmobile suit. The only part that still gets cold is my neck, so I've gotta get something for that. Then I'll ride everyday that doesn't have ice on the roads.

How cheap is cheap? And that is a great idea....what about armor?

I bought it a few years ago, I can't remember how much it was. But knowing me it couldn't have been much. I don't really worry about armor, when it's that cold outside I'm not doing anything crazy anyway.
