I and many like me object to those who desire to change the United States into one of those.
My understanding of "civilized society" is much different than yours. I do not believe in sacrificing fundemental human rights to live in your concept of an idyllic society. I am not "imposing" my viewpoint. I like the Constitution just fine. I guess you could say the founding fathers imposed their viewpoint.
I strongly believe that you are imposing your viewpoint on me. I strongly believe our rights have been documented and that the desire of others even if it is a majority cannot be allowed to subvert our basic human rights.
In 1861 our country fought a war over human rights. We did not put slavery to a referendum. After the war we inserted the 13th amenmentThe United States may be a democracy but its form is a Constitutional Republic. Our desires, perspectives, opinions, etc are filtered through representatives who take an oath not to represent us, but to SUPPORT AND DEFFEND THE CONSTITUTION of the United States.
I suggest if "Universal Health Care" is to be viewed as a right, that it be documented in the Constitution. Make this an Amendment. This is the ONLY way that those who believe this should be a right can be protected.
I don't believe it should be a right, but thankfully the Constitution is a living document and it may be ammended. Lets decide together how our society is to proceed.
I'm not imposing my beliefs on you or anyone else. I could give a **** less. On the other hand, if I thought that the constitution, the bible or any other document was the definitive source of how to live, I wouldn't really need a brain would I? Just a memory to spit back what i learned and then live by it. Then I could be be another cow blindly following the herd.

Think about it. Who wrote the constitution, the bible or any other religious or political documents? Ordinary people just like you and me. Anyone with normal intelligence and a passion for what they're doing can think for themselves and it's an insult to any human being to expect he should use only his memory and adhere to words in a book because a preacher or some politician told you that you should.

No. actually, I always thought we pretty much agreed on the the role of the Federal Government except for your open border, don't enforce immigration law stuff. Just surprised a bit on your posts to this thread.

WTF is with you and categorizing everyone? Does labeling people make it easier for you to get through your day without thinking? Anyhow you must confusing me for someone else. I have no problem with digging a trench along the borders and filling them with land mines. I DO however have a problem with border patrol gestapos harassing me when I'm on my way back from work, driving down CA state highways. That isn't part of the immigration law, or their job description.

Ha Ha! In the last two and a half decades I driven/ridden at least three quarters of a million miles in LA, Orange and San Diego counties without ever being pulled over by the BP. Do you look "suspicious"? Got a 30 year old PU full of yard trimmings? Ha Ha! Lighten up.

If you'll dig that trench and fill it with land mines, you should run for President. I'll send you a check, stuff envelopes and vote for you!

I guess you never saw that thread:

https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...d.php?p=237137

Oh I remember now. You think I'm an open border guy because I said wetback was a racist term. And that blaming the illegals for the immigration problem is shortsighted and pointless.

I DO remember. "wetback" is slang for a legal status, not a race.

I just recognize illegals for being illegal. I don't wish to hurt them (except maybe for the ones that rob, rape, murder, run 13 year old ****** and sell heroin to kids), just send them home. I blame politicians and their slave labor loving corporate owners for the problem.

President Eisenhower launched "Operation Wetback" in the early fifties, eliminating most illegal immigration for the next 20 years so I'm somewhat attached to the term. He was somewhat before my time, but I like Ike.

Yeah. And "porch monkey" is slang for employment status. That doesn't mean it's not racist. Sorry but you don't get to define what's racist and what isn't. Or maybe I missed the part where Obama appoint you as the vocabulary czar.

I hope for your sake, you don't use those words in real life conversations. At best, it takes away your credibility.

We went by our pharmacist today. We started talking, and he informed us that under the Health Care Bill, they won't be able to "compound" prescriptions for seniors who cannot afford the super expensive drugs, and for others who are allergic to certain drugs. This is a small local pharmacy and compounding has been their specialty for years, and there is a large population of seniors here. Under the new bill any pharmacy that "compounds" will be considered a manufacturer, and thus subject to the rules, regulations, fees, etc, etc required by the Feds for the huge pharmaceutical corporations.

Now does that sound like a "change" that will benefit the people? Does that sound like a "change" that benefits the small, non corporate businessman?

I've been talking to doctors, nurses, med techs, radiologists, and pharmacists during the last week since my accident, and none of them like this bill.

If you think the banks had nothing to do with the decline in real-estate values then you cannot connect the dots of the simplest puzzle. There is nothing like 60 trillion dollars (4.6 times the total annual gross domestic product of the United States) in synthetic paper that is beyond any measure of common or uncommon sense to poison the equity well. Yes it is maddening that someone is getting bailed out but the real question is why the bailout is necessary in the first place. JIM

I have had a fucked up couple weeks too. I dropped the bitch off the lift, let her idle until the second line then we took off. I'm still getting used to the roll-on power with the recent build. The engine is much quicker to speed. I think I'm short shifting but when I have glanced down I'm at 8-9 grand. It's sooooo effortless. Also going a hundred so I hope there no cops around. There you go - ride report!

All better?

Somewhat - but not really.

A dear friend of mine/client is in the early stages of chemo for terminal lung cancer. He has to have a blood cell injections every two weeks. $4000 each.

Health issues come with life - how long you live it and how large.

Usually.

In Jim's case after living a leisurely golf course lifestyle as a Phd Nuke Physicist enjoying his scotch and his cubans falls victim to prostate cancer 7-8 years ago. Bounces back - good handicap and good humor.

Eight weeks ago another round. First I thought of the Cubans and the endless cigarettes but no - this is a lung cancer that is not related to smokers at all. WTF

I guess that's life - some people have all the fun and some people have none. No matter how hard they work or what they contribute.

deja Vu. It's still a completely bogus comparison. You might not have noticed, but since that exchange and in deference to your tender sensibilities, I've much refrained from invoking the dreaded "W" word.

You want to trench and mine the border, just make sure nobody feels verbally insulted before they blow up? Okie Doakie.

life is strange to say the least and the varaibles make it incomprehensible.
I've realized for a long time that when you get upset over stupid ****, you need only to stop and force yourself to look at the whole picture in order to see really how good or bad things are. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in minutiae, we lose sight of the big picture. This is like a reset button and gives you the opportunity to continue on with the correct perspective.

you had your engine rebuilt? who, what, how much?

No rebuild, Nath! Just installed the proper jetting, ignition advancer and velocity stacks. Other tuners told me the stacks were the biggest bang for the buck but by the time I learned about them they were no longer available for the Superhawk. See the complete parts list below. About half of the list was done right after I bought the bike and the other half just recently.

I commented (not complained) to the young mechanic that put all this stuff together (and the forkbrace and the shift kit) that the bike was having a problem finding a sweet spot after a cold start in the morning.

He just laughed.

When it gets up to the first mark on the temp gauge it starts to clear it's throat but up to that time it's rugged. I've learned that giving it less choke just lets it die. Now I leave it on full (despite the smell) until it starts to move the needle.

Lord i apolgize for that and all the pygmies in.................hahaha

Political thread huh. Well this is what i have to say about that. Unless you own a corporation, belong to a powerful union, or are part of a powerful special interest like AIPAC which essentially controls the gov't, the media and too many others to list here, it doesn't matter what you do, what you think, or what you believe because your opinion, your needs, and rights are effectively worthless and irrelevant. Once you realize that you don't count for ****, you will understand that this so called "political thread" is nothing but an exercise in futility except for allowing some of us to indulge ourselves in the of, for, and by the people delusion we are living daily.

Job creation and less dependence on foreign oil, Obama has the answer.

All gas stations will go back to FULL SERVICE, and they will HIRE someone to CHECK THE AIR IN YOUR TIRES...thus improving gas mileage-lessening dependence on foreign oil.

A Joke You Ask??? Nooooo!!! He came out with this idea today.

Heh, thanks for asking. Ow Bow Ma hates western civilization in general. He especially hates Americans.

He most especially hates white Americans who are self sufficient, self supporting and believe in the U.S. Constitution and Bill Of Rights as written and ratified.

And in case you haven't noticed, he has a "special place" in his heart reserved for Israeli Jews. Israel is the frontier outpost, the canary in the coal mine for Western Civilization.

That is why Ow Bow Ma grovels before the raghead/king/dictator/ of Saudi Arabia and ***** on the Prime minister of Israel.

When or if you realize how much power AIPAC has over american policy and politics, news, entertainment and information media, industrial and technological infrastructure, and virtually every other crucial area of our society, you'll begin to see that outward appearances of humility and respect and/or apparent disregard mean nothing to the real intentions of these actions. I'm not anti-semetic per se, that is to say, I don't hate any jews personally, however i strongly resent the fact that they have taken over our leadership and thereby the control of this country. So like it or not, in consideration of their power and influence, we all work for them and their beloved Israel. Obama and Clinton just happen to be the present-day manifestation of this subservience.

yes true, and some of us are unable to identify what's lying beneath the surface, even when the water is clear. Some of these will never see, others will have to be impacted directly before they understand.
