My New Project NX650, complete with mustache and pink zebra stripes
Yes, my new bike has a mustache....
I went down to a local bike salvage yard, Baltimore Cycle Salvage, to pick up a Voltage Regulator for my FZR600.
While there my friend and I couldn't help buy notice this eyesore sticking out among the other 30 visible bikes....I didn't think anything of it until some random kid asked the shop owner what it was, and he answered with "it's a 1988 Honda NX650"
I had recently done some reading on the NX bikes since a friend just bought a NX250 and quickly made $1000 painting and reselling it.
So the guy asked what he wanted, he said he'd take what he had in it, which was $500
My friend (who owns an 80's yamaha XT650 dual sport) was strongly encouraging me to get it, knowing how much I love instant torque
So the next day I took the trailer down and picked it up for $500. Brought it home and took it apart, it would turn on, lights came on, it would crank, but NO SPARK!
Digging deeper, the signal wire from the CDI box was barely twisted together on the CDI Box side, and on the Coil side the butt connector was barely crimped on. Fixed those two, and with some tapping on the CDI box it fired right up.
Now I need to address the paint, adjust the tapping valves, and RIDE!!!!
Best thing I love so far, True dual exhaust on a single cylinder!!

Haven't seen a Dominator in quite a while now and don't think I have ever seen a striped one with a mustache.......

Mustache and paint aside, it was a great buy. It came with braided steel front brake line, and a set of like new Pirelli Scorpion A/T tires!
I'm going to the track thursday, so I don't know how much work I'll be able to do on the NX before then, gotta get the FZR ready and wire the trailer a little better. When I get paint on I'll put more pics up
