Okay, since we are listing all kinds of music here...I will show a little support and introduce yall to a local band from Cibolo, Tx that is about 10 miles from me. They are a little vulgar, so keep the kiddos hears away from the speakers. Could not find any decent videos so here is a link to hear a couple songs. Be sure to play "wasted" and "open minded redneck". They have a whole bunch of songs, if ya care look them up.

The band is made up of black, white and hispanics...

I have a couple of young adult children and a very diverse workplace, so I get exposed to alot of stuff that's new or at least new to me. Older music is just as daunting to find because there is so damned MUCH of it! Personally I find my mood dictates what I listen to. Most nights though, give me a live Drive By Truckers show with half a dozen cold beers and I'll be hoarse screaming for Steve McQueen.

Definitely give it a listen, there is no standout here like Holy Wars or Tornado of Souls but it's a very solid album start to finish, and Chris Broderick brings some great lead playing to the table.
Very few people use the term heavy metal to refer to those old bands anymore though anyhow, the term applies to the throwback bands these days but also to the genre as a whole. It's definitely interesting how the genre become much more extreme and much more expansive, with the rise of thrash and the first roots of death and black metal in the 80s, the explosion of melodeath in the 90s, the rise of all the hardcore influenced bands and the explosion of progressive and avante garde stuff in the 00s.
