Never cared much for Porsche myself. More like a pumped up VW Bug to me. Not that I wouldn't trade my straight up also though.

Trust me, you haven't really lived until you have flogged an oldschool Porsche at the limits of your ability... Your's not the car, that takes loosing all your marbles to be bonkers enough... They have very little in common with a VW bug, believe me...

I haven't had the pleasure of wringing a 917 out, but I have done my best to find my limits in a couple of 90x series cars... I'm a fairly decent nut case, but let me tell you I wasn't close to the limit of what those cars could perform before I backed off... And I had the priveledge of running a couple of "historic races" in a fully prepped 962...

And I have had a few "sedate" laps in a race spec converted GT1 Straßenversion, ie the road version, but with race spec parts (Getting your hands on a race spec GT1 would require a miracle)... That thing makes cruising around Nürburgring a new experience... "Crusing" in terms of a GT1 means low 8 minute laps, and fighting the unruly beast that considers that a parade lap all the way... My best was a 7.43 once I worked my nerve up to hold the throttle on for longer than a few seconds at the time...

hell... the cayman S, my fathers friend let me thrash around in was pretty damn fast- and fun, and that is a toy compared to a 962

Wow! "Some assembly required" doesn't even scratch the surface here. Yikes!
