It's not a superhawk, but... I could win a ZX-14R!

Here's a better link to article above:
Motorcycling major finds safe outlet for his need for speed - The Fort Huachuca Scout
They put it up on the publisher's website, which is easier to read than having to scroll through the entire pdf file. Of course if you want to see the USAICOE (U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence) Command Sergeant Major (CSM)'s piece where he also talks about motorcycle safety, hit up the pdf.

He doesn't have to beat her in the vote, only be in the top 4 to get to the track. Then he can beat her there!
Voted! Hope you are a drag-racing fool, and out there practicing your launch.

I'm a road-course guy, primarily... but I have done a couple of days at the dragstrip, so I'm not completely out of my depth. The 'advantage' there (if you will), is that I know I need to pay lots of attention in the drag race school, and it's a bracket format, so consistency is key. I have a very 'process oriented' outlook on things (I'm an operations research analyst by training...), so while I know I'm not as experienced on straight track as some of the other semi-finalists, it certainly won't be a lamb to the slaughter situation.
That said, one of my riding gurus and I are planning to take my race bike out and sacrifice the clutch to the drag race gods in order to get me re-familiarized with full-blast hard launches...

The race for 4th is really heating up... please keep voting and help keep me ahead of them! I'll be in class all week with limited internet access, so it'll be a quick 'please vote' thread bump, then I'm off to class... Thanks everyone for voting, I really can't say it enough!

You might want to rethink that if it is bracket racing. As you said, consistency is key, and "full-blast hard launches" does not consistency bring. I suggest training your response time to the tree. Getting consistent there and launching at exactly the same RPM every time, shifting at exactly the same time, etc, is more important than all out power. Remember, the 14 will have more of a tendency to spin the rear tire than the Hawk, so throttle control will be important.

I also imagine they're going to require that for the competition we turn the traction control off...

Daily thread bump. There are 4 chances to vote left, and at around 15 seconds apiece, it's less than a minute of your time to vote for me... please click on the picture in my sig-line and help keep me in the top 4!

You guys are awesome. Three voting chances left, and I'm still in 2nd place. Given this has been going on for a month now, and Ms Slick Wicked has a 1700-someodd facebook friend advantage on any of the guys, that's not too shabby. Thank you all for supporting me, please close it out strong!

Two days left! Vote, gets your co-workers to vote, get your (other) friends to vote, hit facebook... I knew the race would get a bit crazy at the end and that I just have to stay in the top 4, but with the last-minute flail I knew 2nd through 4th would dice it up a bit. Didn't expect to have they guy who was 6th a week ago catch me! Strong work on his part, but that means I have to help push for the last 2 days. Please vote and pass it along to others to do the same, just today and tomorrow left!!!

Thanks for voting everybody, I am truly humbled by the level of support my online 'family' put forth to keep me in this. I'll post up here on 2 May when they announce the finalists!
