I'm getting married tomorrow
After 6 years and going through lots of life's **** together (and raising a kid), I'm taking the walk with her. I told her parents I'm willing to try anything once. Over the years I've learned to accept that she is always right and I am always wrong. If she attempts to get me fired up about something, I just roll one up and smile. She does bitch often, but after a couple hours all is forgotten. After looking back at some of the other chicks I've played with, she has them all beat in all aspects. She cleans, cooks, likes to ride my bike & me, and likes to go out and let loose every once in a while. I've faced the fact that since I am an only child, her and my mom will probably never get along really good but they've learned to deal with each other. We're having a huge wedding (her favorite part) and a kick *** honeymoon (my favorite part). Wish me luck. The odds are against us but I'm always up for a challenge. Tim

One Sunday morn, i was riding my Norton down to Morgantown , West-by-god Va to do a little skydiving. About half way there, something struck me like a brick, not literally thankfully, but an enlightenment of sorts............my only day off and I'm feedin my ego when the people that love me and I love are sittin home......what kind of selfish ******* does this?
I turned the bike around right there and headed home. I sold the bike, quit skydiving, racing and all other interests that took time away from the family. This lasted exactly 8 years, when our youngest was 15, oldest 20, at which time i found myself in a Honda shop north of Houston signing the papers for a 84 1000cc interceptor. Haven't been bikeless since thankfully.
Was it right???? Time was tight as i was working 60-65 hrs mon thru sat, so it was a good move for a selfish bastard like me. Helped me to put things into perspective a bit.

Seems to be a fair agreement..
Besides- I figure I have as much chance of her going first...(IF You saw her drive a car)

I got married at 21, everyone gave me **** for being young but it was without a doubt the best decision of my life.
My wife and I have an agreement that if we are going to argue about something we each get one chance to say what we have to say. Once we both get our words out, fight is over. We can still be mad at eachother, but we don't continue to argue.
My only advice to offer is don't go to bed angry. No good ever comes from letting your anger stew over night and continue into the morning.
Oh, and make up sex. There's nothing like taking your aggressions out on your significant others reproductive organs.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Back to the normal life now. Lived like royalty for a week on the honeymoon. After party when the reception was over got a little out of hand. Her dad got beligerant and got arrested and her brother in law tackled on of my groomsmen. Guess where I was, chilling with my friends in the hotel partying in my own world. I refused to let her white trash family ruin my night. Kinda saw it coming anyway. Never a dull moment. I think I'm going to write a book. Thanks again, TIm

Congrats. How old are you? I highly recommend marriage but you really gotta take those vows seriously. If failure is an option then save the trouble and dont do it.
Been married 10yrs and love it. She is my pit crew racing. If you marry her with a bike she can NEVER say get rid of it....package deal. (unless you start getting stupid and wreckless).
Realizing there is no exit door should really change the relationship. Make sure you both agree on the permanence of this step.
God bless

I swear my wife's family would be a Jerry Springer goldmine. Good thing they are on the west coast and I'm near the east coast. Just passed my 10year anniversary this weekend. Best 10 years of my life. It ain't easy but it's worth it.

Nath, you hit it on the head. I spent a lot of time trying to fit motorcycling in to my life where there wasn't really space for it. My wife always saw it as a waiting game, with a bad ending, so there was no support there.
I built a fantastic track bike, but got to the end of last summer and hadn't found a weekend to break away to ride it and my wife was dealing with breast cancer. It made me see that my side of the argument was very self-centered.
I miss the bike - no doubt, but overall I'm happier. Selling it opened the door for a lot of other very satisfying opportunities. And it also freed me of a nagging conflict in my life.
In a different situation, I would be able to put the bike first. But I can't say I have any regrets.
