Yep... Around town you get to work on those muscles when changing lanes... But once you start to let it stretch it's legs it all starts to make sense...

Any thoughts about looking at the Aprilia Tuono 1000r? The paint schemes are a bit strange but they can be had with nice brakes and suspenders for a decent price used. With a remap and decent cans they sure look sweet.

I think I've got Aprillia Tuono on the brain after seeing one on the street and hearing this sound clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88sxlzb5VD8

Good luck with the RC51. I love the look of them but I don't think my back would take the riding position anymore especially after back surgery.

Ya. It's the sound I was looking for when shopping for pipes for my SH.

got a better tire on the front of the rc51 today. bike now has much better manners.

too bad the snow and messy roads won't allow a ride past the corner.

what cans you got on there pooch? if you're lookin for new ones, i'd say keep an eye out on the bay...you run into sweet deals like my full leo system for 590$ every once in a while haha

re: exhaust...if it's a stock motor, stick with slip ons as they give the best performance particularly in the mid range. you lose too much with a full system. most of the rc guys agree that full exhaust is over kill unless you had some cam work done. lose way too much bottom end for barely any top end.

what damper are you running? im tempted to snag a univ ohlins damper and mount it up to the frame/fork, but i already have a scotts mount on mine...so getting just a scotts damper is way way cheaper and faster...cant really comment on their performance though...

rcvtr: i remember reading somewhere where you've done rc motor rebuilds...cant remember what post it was on, or it might have been a hawk motor post im thinking about...what's the verdict? PITA to work on? or pretty simple?

i love leo vince and they will be my next pipe. slip on for sure. the real reason i get pipes is for the sound, not power. the rc51 came with slip on scorpions. they will do unless someone wants to trade for leo vinces!

i think the damper is a hyperpro.

yeah i wasnt a big fan of leo before i got mine...only time i really saw them was on my buddies beat up 748...didn't really care for the sound thought they were too quiet and tinny. well, i got the full system on mine, sounds AMAZING. its loud, but i dont feel like it's stupid loud where i dont even want to ride (ahem, busted *** carbon jardine high mounts) my last cans were stupid loud and i honestly almost didnt even wanna ride sometimes because they were that loud. i still set off car alarms, but its not an everytime i ride by them type deal. from what i gather, carbons have a richer tone, high mounts are louder because the can is physically shorter. but yeah, carbons sound sweet, but i wouldnt trade my full leos unless it was a full akra carbon system brand new HAHA

anyways, i LOVE the build quality vs. price point of the leos. not by ANY means a shoddy product. the build quality on leos are EXECELLENT--but the best part is that they dont cost an arm leg and kidney like the akras do. sato's get lots of love too, but theyre too pricey for a slipon imo...damn near a thousand bucks US! SLIP. ONS. cmon...thats bullocks.

oh, and shamless plug: http://heymynameisfred.blogspot.com :] its my blog that covers all the work im doing on my rc's
