BTW - We Forgot to Laugh

While reading this article it occurred to me how thin-skinned we seem to have become.
I try to look at things from different vantage points and one occurred to me where this skit is hilarious if you have "dust it off" confidence in yourself. If you can't make fun of yourself when you do stupid **** you can't dish it out in a friendly, jocular fashion either.
Imagine this child watching TV during this episode. Where is he? For many youngsters, they are at Grandma's and Grandpa's because Mom & Dad both work. On a normal day Granny watches foodie shows in the morning and when Grampy comes out of bathroom he switches it to Fox News.
In the kid's mind he senses the man on the TV is not happy. He's cranky. What he says makes Grampy throw up his arms and say, "Oh, ****!" Now Grammy's cranky because she doesn't like what Grampy just said.
So we switch to CNN.
For Sesame Street to make light of this scenario is good fun but only if you're tough enough to make light of yourself and your situation. Are we happy? No - most of the news makes us cranky. Does it go on for days? Yes, and some are worse. For the child to make light of this is important to his world so it's just good fun for him. He gets to laugh at all of us.
My Dad had a saying that always brought a chuckle from his WWII buddies, "Some days the **** comes down so hard, you feel like wearing a hat."
Remember to laugh.
