Aluminum Machining Speeds

Aluminum Machining Speeds
Hey all....
I know a few of you out there are fairly talented in the machining of aluminum bits and parts... and I was looking for a little advice...
I need to turn down a few spacers, and barends, etc for my RC swap and need to know the "recommended" turning speed for T-6061 Aluminum....
What I've come up with looking online is 375 Surface Feet Per Minute.... which calculates a 1/2" dia at 3000 RPM... 1" dia - 1500 rpm..... is this fairly accurate? (I've come acorss a few different calculations, but this one has been most common)
Most of the items I've turned in the past were made of Nylon and REN Shape materials... you could pretty much just blast through them without much regard for proper technique, but I'd like a nice finish on these parts, so any advice is helpful!!!
