80MPH, Deer, death, Survival
A buddy of mine was taken out by a doe at 80mph on a trip to Lake George, NY last week. Amazingly he just had some road rash on the forearms, bruises and a stiff knee. BMW R1150GS (?) lost an oil cooler, headlight, etc. He & some guys at an autoparts store rigged up the bike & he rode it back to Virginia!
He even had pictures a buddy had taken while the paramedics were checking him out.
The deer didn't fair so well. More or less cut in half. Died WFO. There was actually a foot long strip of dried deerskin I pulled off the cylinder head this week.

I heard that it's possible to split a deer in 2 and keep riding - but this isn't what I pictured. I'm glad he's okay.
Were you tempted to eat the cooked bits on his cylinder head? I bet that smelled great!

Re: 80MPH, Deer, death, Survival
so whats the common practice when faced with a deer? gun it? swerve? i used to live out in the sticks and had to deal with deer at least once a week. never anything too close, but enough to get me slow down to 30 mph for a few miles.
