KC10-I don't feel like re reading all the front end swap threads...I see you already switched to an RC51 front end. Is it all direct bolt on? I'm on a limited budget so I'm a sucker for good deals. If I could switch for under $500 and actually do it cause it doesn't take a great deal of work, I might try to get these parts.

Thanks

PS- Everyone that reads this thread and wants to bid on these parts on Ebay...think before you bid...if everybody starts bidding days before the auction ends, it just drives the price up. I'm not trying to cheat anyone on Ebay, but if you want a certain amount for something, set a reserve. Otherwise just watch it til there is only a minute left. Strategy guys...

Hey Hotbrakes,

This is what I have on my bike and no you cannot do it for 500.00 at least I could not do it. RC-51 Forks, upper triple (SP1), brakes, master Cyl. 929 front wheel with RC-51 axle, bearings and spacers 929 center section in wheel(right spacer is custom) 929 lower triple. TL-1000 helibars, EBC rotors, with EBC HH brakes pads, custom length RC-51 galfer brake lines + 1.5".

The helibars alone are about 200 brand new because I could never find used ones. Even with that said I would spend the money all over again because of the awesome improvement that this made to the bike. It should have come this way from the factory!

SlowHAWK is an unknown quantity at this point
I second the not for 500 deal.... MAYBE if you were able to sell off all the VTR pieces for top dollar you would be in the ball park... but forks and a straight front wheel are probably 400 alone... add in all the other pieces and it's more like a 800 plus type thing.

I did 954 stuff, and I have 300 in forks and triples, 200 for the wheel, 100 in clipons (954 and they barely work, will likely spend another 200 on a different solution), 200 in master cylinders (due to clipons I can't find a master cylinder the doesn't hit the gauges and currently have a 1000, RC51, and 600), 100 bucks at All ***** for wheel bearings and tapered stem bearings, 100 bucks and Bike bandit for brake pads, 200-300 bucks at racetech for seals/bushings/spring compressing tool/seal driver, 40 bucks at the local shop for tire mounting and fork oil...This is depressing...
So I am going on about $1500 (oh yeah I got hosed for $150 bucks on ebay from a guy that sold me an f4 wheel too!), and will hopefully recoup $500. And I was patiently shopping for good deals.

Hey guys,

I think the key to this whole swap thing and my opinion only is the RC stuff. The forks are longer! You can use a flat top triple clamp which raises the clip-ons the needed 3/4 of an inch and the TL-1000 clip-ons which are expensive but also aid in getting the throttle cables out of the fairings but made the whole thing easy to put together and a pleasure to ride.

If I had to do it again I would only do one thing different, and that is stick with the RC front wheel and use the rear wheel off of a 900RR to match. Why because the look cool and I would not have burnt up a set of front wheel bearings, I also would not have had to make a trip to the machine shop for the custom front right wheel spacer. Oh well no harm no foul!! HEHEH

So money aside, is it a direct swap if you use an entire (wheel, brakes everything) RC51 front end?
