My wife and I saw one on our Sunday morning breakfast run at Cook's Corner (local Orange County biker hangout) last year.
There was some Italian bike parked next to it, I don't remember what it was, and all the Harley guys were checking it out, clueless as to what the red Honda was.

Hang on boys put your cheque books away, these guys are known for being dodgy, and they have advertised this bike at various prices for years.
Occasionally you see these come up for sale in Europe for about half the money, bargain!!

From 1985 until just over 2 years ago, when I retired, I had a June, 1985 issue of Cycle News in my auto classroom with a feature article on the NR500. I used it every semester when I taught engines and 4-stroke cycle in my Tune-up and Emission Control class.
The NR500 had only a 35mm* stroke, and developed incredible HP/liter numbers for that time. I used it to show my students what could be done with innovative thinking. The article stated that the bike was extremely hard to ride, somewhat due to the internal friction created by the long flat cylinder walls. Evidently closing the throttle would cause the rear wheel to just about lock up. A slipper clutch supposedly only partially solved that problem.
But jeez, 8 valves per cylinder, 2 rods per piston. Japanese engineering at its finest.
*the stroke might have been 36mm, but I remember telling my students that the stroke was about equal to the width of a roll of film. By the time I retired in 2008, my students knew about as much about a roll of film as they did about 33 1/3 rpm records.
