SuperHawk GT for sale.

Hi Guys,
I can't believe I'm sitting here writing this, but the Superhawk GT is for sale.
Most of you already know this bike from my " The new guy and his bike" thread but here are the details:
2002 with 41,000 miles. Clear title.
Regular maintenance by your's truly, a motorcycle mechanic with 35 years experience.
I'm also the one that built the bike, starting with a very clean, uncrashed example.
Updated OEM CCT's with manual locking feature installed at 36,000 miles.
K&N filter w/jetkit and RC51 mufflers. Mid mount with passenger pegs still functional.
CBR 929 forks and gauges. Speedo Healer for calibration.
CBR 929 front wheel / calipers / 330 mm rotors.
CBR600RR rider footpegs.
599 headlight, GSXR turnsignals.
ZRX6 oil cooler with braided lines.
VTX1800 radiator ( under the seat ) with double fans one of which has an adjustable thermoswitch.
VFR800 ('98-01) 5.5 gallon fuel tank. ( makes seat height an inch taller than stock, great for legroom if you have at least a 30" inseam, there are some small dings/dents in the tank which is how I bought it since I didn't want to spend a lot of money in case it didn't work )
Tubular Handlebars with heated grips and handguards.
Penske shock with low and high speed compression adjustment as well as rebound, spring preload and ride height adjustment.
Carbon hugger that's in fair shape, as it was when I bought it.

The bike weighs 448 lbs with half a tank of gas.
I dropped it, low speed, a couple of years ago, hence the scuffed clutch cover.
The picture was taken before I put the passenger pegs back on but I included a detail shot of the peg mounts.

I built this bike in 2005 and have put 20,000 miles on it since.
Some of you might be apprehensive about the miles, but I usually don't sell my bikes until I have least 50,000 miles on them.
I would not hesitate to take this bike anywhere.

$3800.00

For an additional $400.00 you will get the following extra parts:

Sub frame
Stock tail section in very good condition
Spare stock seat in like new condition.
Stock right side radiator, no fan, sorry, I needed it for the bike
Stock mufflers, clean no dings
Stock RC51 mufflers, clean no dings
Canadian 98-01 VFR800 fuel tank, no dents, no rust, teal green
Stock shock
Stock titanium gray tank and tail section. The tank is not perfect but only has a small ding on the rear if I remember correctly.
2001 CBR900RR Forks with lower triple.

I will post it for sale here for a week or two, after that I will list it on E-bay and or Craigslist.

Any questions, let me know. If you need more pics, let me know.
The bike is located in Southern California.
PM me if you want to see it in person.
Bring cash and a license with motorcycle endorsement if you want to ride it.
I will gladly continue to work on the bike for the new (local) owner at about half of what the local dealers will charge, and nobody knows this bike like I do and I will miss it.......

Hey lazn,

I've had the bike for 5 years and learned a lot building it.
Learned even more hanging out here.
Time to learn some new stuff with a new project, what, I don't know yet. Whatever it is, it will be naked.
I'm not ready to sell the CB1 just yet, I'm actually planning on giving it to my son when the time comes, and I doubt that I'll ever sell the XR650R/SM.

So, anybody interested, let me know.

Thanks for the sentiment.
I wrote that ad a year ago, when the bike had 36,000 miles on it but couldn't get myself to post it.
Every time I ride the bike I marvel at how well it works and tell myself that I'm a fool for wanting to sell it.
I went through the same thing when I sold my 600 Rotax powered 250 Ninja.
This will be worse because the VTR works so well but it's time to move on.

Not sure really what to say.

If you are selling it you have to have the next step in mind. (next bike)

I've seen this bike in person, it is totally legit. It will go and go. No worries about the mileage.

I hope once sold you continue to share progress with your new project whatever that may be.

I think you will buy another SH and do the same thing only different, it only makes sense.

What is a better platform to build a naked bike? V-twin 1000cc, meaty torque, aluminum frame, non linked brakes, no gee whiz gagets....

ST1300 naked !!!!!, torque, cruising comfort, unique, fuel range.
You could be the guy that sheds 175lbs off it, installs USD forks, etc....
Kai Ju you are just looking for this challenge.

Naked ST has been done, look it up.
Why not go all out and do a GL naked ?
Wait, that's been done too, see Tokyo show a couple of years ago.
Just type Honda Evo 6 into Google images, and I like it.........

There's always the pushrod twin option........

Honestly don't know what the next one will be, but I want to do it right and finish it, like the CB1.5

I've seen a couple of naked ST's, wasn't really impressed.

Not to say it couldn't be done right.

Are you thinking taking a Warrior motor and putting it in a different chassis?

The CB1 is nice. You could make a bigger one. CBR954 or 1000 naked.

I dunno either.

Any plans on selling the extras separately? I understand hanging on to them until bike is sold in case new owner wants them, but if not I'd be interested in the tail section and possibly the 900rr forks and lower triple.

At this point I'm hoping that the extra parts will sweeten the pot for a potential buyer.
So no, not just yet.

In the meantime, a few more pics.

I understand. I recently sold a complete upper fairing that I wasn't willing to part out due to shipping hassles. If and when you decide, let me know, I'll still be interested.

You might mention what kind of range you get with the VFR fuel tank.

V-twin grunt, upright position, $3800.00 why wouldn't you buy it.

If you are in the market for a 919, speed triple, or naked you really should

look at or ride this bike.

If you didn't already own one I'd sell it to you.

Your mileage may vary but I have gone over 200 miles without stopping for gas.
The normal range for me to fill up is right at 150 miles with usually a gallon or so left in the tank.

Thanks for the endorsement VTS.

434 views, no offers.
I promise I will continue to visit this forum after I sell the bike so don't let that be the reason for not wanting to buy this awesome machine.

Superhawk GT 'Sold'

Well, a year after I posted it for sale, it's gone.
Helped the new owner load it in the back of a Pick Up for it's ride to Texas.

Thanks for an awesome five years on this forum. I'll continue to hang out just to see what you guys come up with.

It's been fun.

Congrats on the sale! I'll try to keep the undertail legacy for ya...

Almost done hooking everything up- most electronics are mounted, temp sensor and one fan is hooked up. Shrader valve is installed. Just have to route hosing to the fill cap and I think at least it'll be testable from there. Then I'll deal with that second fan if I need it...

The sale had to be bitter sweet. Someday you'll miss it, hopefully not with regret. I miss my Hawk GT but given the choice, I'd rather flog the wife's SV650. So it's all good.

Cheers

Tell the new owner to join this forum!

My father had an essentially brand new Bandit that his dealer crashed while test-riding after some maintenance. To make it up to him, they turned it into a streetfighter with Dale Walker's Holeshot parts all over and in it. It was an amazing bike after they were done with it. He sold it and has regretted it ever since (and so have I). I hope that doesn't happen to you.

P.S.: I think your VTR is my favorite of all the ones I've seen. I'd rather meet it than any so called "celebrity".

Where were you when I posted this ad on 3-23-2010 ?

I spoke to the new owner last night and he loves the bike so you may have to wait a bit.
