Need inexpensive PAIR block off plates
#3
Procedure
Remove the seat and tank (and PLEASE mark the vacuum/vent/fuel lines to the tank so you can remember which way to reinstall them!!!)
Remove the rubber hoses going to each PAIR valve.
Remove the two bolts holding each PAIR valve in place.
Remove the PAIR valves.
You will see a small screw holding the reed stopper and reed in place. Remove the screw, flip the reed stopper to hold the reed shut, and replace the screw..
Put everything back together (3.6 ft-lb on the PAIR valve bolts)
You just disabled PAIR.

The "most inexpensive" ones are already on your bike.
Flip the reeds as stated above and use the covers that are there, but just get vaccuum caps for the ends.
I ran mine that way until I could afford SuperD's plates and CCTs.

KCCO, call me confused... I do not understand how flipping the reed / stopper is beneficial??? Perhaps I am just misunderstanding your procedure? It seems to me, in it's original position the reed allows air in under the brief negative pulse in the exhaust port and conversely keeps the positive pressure from escaping through the reed, and exiting down the header as it should. I imagine the positive wave would be much more than that of the negative / vacuum wave. Either I'm missing something or what you prescribe is the reverse of what is to be accomplished? With that in mind my fittings have been plugged for years until I get around to removing the hole mess for block-off plates!
I'm not asking this in an attempt to bust *****...just looking for something I missing?
My apologies to all... as this discussion should most likely take place on a different thread

flipped to keep the PAIR reed from opening at all.

Cheapest way to do it for sure.

Yeah.......So??? I still do not get it! The reeds don't even need to be there!!!!!!
Once the vacuum is gone to the valve covers (block-off plates or what ever.... which is all too easy to do)...what's left????
Positive Waves!!! <<<<<<<correct.................................. .?
What happens to the + pos. waves...coming up the air passage from the exhaust ports... after the o-ring in the valve cover fails?
My guess is, some immeasurable amounts of pos, and neg. waves go through the valve covers and into the "stock air box"...
Making an already (tough-tune) set-up, just a bit more ponderous???
To me, the question is....I want to find the best way to plug the (Pair passages) @ the exhaust ports???
Seems like some may be under thinking this backside thought?

Flip the reeds.
Mine has been like that for 2 years and no probs.
Don't understand how it does work but it does.
The only thing you need is caps for where the hoses went to seal them off.
Try it you'll see it works.
All up cost 1buck for caps and a bit of time.
I always said I would buy some aftermarket plates but have never bothered.
